Listening to the radio on the drive home, they said that the College was one of the most diverse in Canada. Many different cultures and ethnic groups. The people described as the shooters we're in all black, with mowhawks and numerous piercings. I'm not trying to make by any means a punk sterotype, but this has White Supremicist written all over it sadly.

Why is there so much spite against these gunmen? This isn't a black and white issue; they aren't "evil" aliens -- They are people, too. A product of our society, even. This is an issue that should be addressed as a society, where everyone has a part to try to prevent future acts like this from happening.

Thanks. Always wondered what Quebec's CEGEP system was all about.
In terms of relative age, it makes the reports of innocent dead all that more senseless.

Its an issue that should be addressed with a scope and a high calibre rifle, with a cop pulling the trigger.

But with 10,000 students. That's pretty big.

Right now people are dead or wounded. Let's deal with that first.

4 people go in and open up shooting on a bunch of young kids, what the heck did you expect? I agree that there are many problems with our society that only help feul the fire for people like this. However for someone to just open fire randomly on young men and women, there is much more wrong with them. Everyone of those shooters does not deserve to take another breath.
however this is an argument for another time

Reports are all over the map on this. On the radio I must have heard 3 or 4 different reports of every detail.
On report said gang violence, another said a chase, another story was random, indiscriminate shooting.

I think it's mandatory actually for Quebec students. It's preparation for university, as opposed to an adult upgrade institution.

Quebec's school system works like ours up until grade 11. After grade 11 you get your highschool diploma and you can go to cegep, if you wish, for 2 years. Then after that you can do 3 years at University to get a bachelor's degree. Dawson's is a well-known Montreal cegep for anglophones.
So getting a bachelor's degree in Quebec takes the same amount of time as everywhere else in Canada, but you can graduate from high school a year earlier.

The news in Montreal is saying 12 injured, 2 dead. The 2 dead appear to be the gunmen -- one shot by police and one by his own hand. There's apparently 1 or 2 gunmen still at large.

From all the reports I've read / seen, there were two gunmen. One killed himself after unloading on the others. You make them sound like they were just having fun and going on about shooting randomly. I see this as much akin to Coloumbine. Two "punks" -- described as wearing trenchcoats, large boots, piercings -- who were probably social outcasts, and now act out of desperation and rage. What you say is right -- there is a lot wrong with them. But their problem IS our problem, and we should treat it like that, and think about what we could do. The gunmen are victims, too.

I don't see anyone saying that. Moreover, there will be a time to discuss why this stuff happens, but not now. Right now they are NOT victims. They are murderers.
