Twitter is a phenomenal resource for disseminating information very quickly. It is a great way to gather headlines and brief situational updates.

The problem is that people pretend like Twitter is something else. The moment news organizations started reporting the tweets of politicians and celebrities as though they are somehow useful or purposeful was the day Twitter became something worth disparaging. It has grown worse as activists from all sides of every issue have taken to twitter as a forum for debate and discussion.

There is no issue which can be productively or informatively discussed in 140-character snippets of thought, and the fact that people make the attempt to do so on Twitter is, frankly, deplorable.

Using Twitter as anything other than a news-gathering and news-disseminating tool is to utterly misunderstand what the technology is useful for and expose oneself and the technology itself to ridicule.
But that's all I use twitter for. That, and to make fun of my friends who tweet stupid stuff.

But I can agree that reporting on what people tweet is ridiculously stupid.

They've just been playing poor hockey most games this season.

Safe to say the goalie stole a win for the team today. I don't who it was, as long as it happened. Now go steal 5 more games for the team to break even.

I think our 3rd period woes are a confidence thing, AKA fear of the roof caving in. Last year we thought we could come from behind against any team. Not so this year.

Washington is a top-five team in the NHL. When really good teams play desperate hockey in their efforts to come from behind in the later stages of a game, especially against a team that is playing in its second game in as many days, these things are going to happen.

The Capitals deserve a lot of credit for tying the game up last night.

Whereas in OT this year they seem to have a definite "We got this" attitude.

Weird isn't it. Maybe, because we've already earned a point, the pressure is off in overtime?

The players and the system is great for 3 on 3 situations (just like how the Flames were the best 4 on 4 team last season).

When you have so many mobile defensemen who can play both zones, it makes a huge difference. Not to mention Monahan's finish and Gaudreau's amazing skill.

Yeah it's like some people forget there are two teams on the ice and one team controlling the play for 60 minutes barely ever happens.

Washington is a good team who has a top 5 player in the world and Nicklas Backstrom on it. They aren't going to lay down in the third.

The Panda-Polak ratio is becoming widely accepted as an inverse relationship.

Totally buy what you're saying, but 32 - 8 in shot attempts over about 12 minutes is more than just a desperate team trying to claw back, is the same "oh my God just don't let another one in" that we've seen from this team this year

Generally pleased with the game last night, would have liked to have closed the door in regulation but beggars can't be choosers. Just gotta keep chipping our way back to .500 and hopefully beyond.
