Lately there's also been a tightening of security at sporting stadiums. Not like I mind (other than the long lines), but it has spread to areas other than airports.
Wonder about chatter about tonight's soccer stadium attack was related... and if it'll now spread to concerts, etc

It's embarrassing to discuss Canada's statement of response to a heinous act of terrorism on an ally?

Honestly what options does the world have? ISIS isn't going away? Are we being too politically correct in the way we are trying to wage war with them?
Thousands are already being killed. It won't get better by not doing anything.
I am very interested in what France will do.

Using it as a means to bash him in the context of this thread, when it has very little relevance to whatever upcoming policy decision he makes? Yeah, it's incredibly petty and embarrassing.
EDIT: Especially when people are flat-out lying about what he said to make their point.

The world should never have let Syria get this bad. We took the path of least resistance and it bit us in the ass. The last 4+ years have been a tragedy of massive proportions and the problem isn't getting better. I don't know what the solution is, but doing little to nothing isn't working. Allowing Saudi and Iran to fight a proxy war has been a massive mistake and its created a disaster that is destabilizing the entire region.

Just saw a presser with the French President. Apparently, President Hollande will announce that he'll fully mobilize his country's military to "remove the threat of and make safe terrorist areas".

France has lots of options, they can go to the secretive with their intelligence agencies, they can be overt in terms of standard military responses.
I would expect that France's citizens will demand action, and we will start to see more strident air strikes from France and from NATO air assets in the area.
Domestically, they are going to turn things upside down in a search for radicals and sleepers, the rest of Europe will probably replicate this.
I would also expect that Immigration is going to be deliberately slowed down.
I think that beyond special forces units in the area, you put a massive bounty on every leader in ISIS, and see if you can fracture that tumor.
I'm pretty sure that someone is willing to stab a leader in the back for 10 mil.

Many, the question is what options will work (and what might even worsen matters). No good answer to that seems available.
It might, eventually, as a result of moderate muslims initiating some sort of purge over what would likely take decades. It isn't going away in any timeline that admits the possibility of this not happening again, multiple times.

Yes. We can start by eliminating the pretense that religious motivations play no role in these attacks.

Agreed, and after this, something will be done, something probably drastic; the question is whether it will help.

Indeed. We all should be. A conflict with this apocalyptic ideology seems inevitable to me, whether it's after this attack or the next or the one after. But how to engage in that fight? I'm at a loss.

If its ISIS, we've had two fairly significant terrorist actions against major powers in the last few weeks
Russian Airliner
France
This might signal an uptempo of their operational ability, they might be satisfied that they have established independent cells in these countries.
I'm also willing to be that unlike Al Quaeda ISIS itself in the middle east isn't planning these operations or even really encouraging a time line, these are independent terrorists doing what they want when they want and probably on the cheap with simple plans so they don't tip off the authorities.

Apparently on Twitter there is a certain hashtag (really hard to copy it here) where ISIS has announced that Rome, London, and Washington are the next targets. I can't confirm validity so take with a huge grain of salt I suppose.

I'm sure the Paris attacks had some outside support. It was a pretty complex attack.

The dumbest thing about this whole incredibly ridiculous nonsense is that Trudeau did call them terrorist attacks in his speech, he just did it in French.

You can add Beirut, Lebanon to that. Attack was today or yesterday. 43 dead or so. ISIS claiming responsibility.

I couldn't imagine living through something like this. You always see and hear things about bombings and such in war torn regions, but something like this just seems more real. I couldn't imagine living through it one time, forget having to deal with it every day.
Man there are rotten people in the world.
