It's legal. I think there may be a rule about picking up a second stick and holding it, but you can indeed shoot a stick to a team mate, but you can't throw one.

Can't let a forward come out of the corner unchallenged, and Ramo can't let that slide in under his pad. Breakdown in two spots on one play, and it's usually in the back of your net.
