No. This is what happens when you mock the extremists' anti Harper bias with some similar in kind

I mean she's fine as interim leader, but if they choose someone who's basically going to continue the Harper path as their permanent leader they are not going to do very well in the next election either.

Yeah, cause jumping on an issue being fixed before the media even notices is the same as muzzling anyone that has a dissenting opinion or can announce dissenting facts. Nailed it.

What point is that? Where have people posted issues with the CPC and then immediately shown to be flat out wrong?

"Oh yeah? What do you think of this!?"
"Looks fine to me."
"Oh, yeah, I guess me too."

If your point is that Reformers are going to jump on every small scrap they can find in an attempt to discredit the new Government, using the same "facts be damned" mentality that the outgoing Government made policy on, and then say "This is what you guys did with Harper!" when the fact it's wrong is thrown in their face.... then sure....

If that's not your point, then I'm lost.

Cheers, my friend - it's the weekend.
It should be obvious the initial post in question regarding the 'same work for less pay' was a green text post - as was mine that followed - to start the clock on eliciting a response from the CPC/Harper-hating faithful. And you all bit, in nearly record time. Your consistency is to your credit.

Poe's Law.

Now who is this worse for? Those you're saying got "duped" by your clever social experiment or those whose support falls behind politicians and political ideals that leaves a lot of room to doubt the comment was in jest or satirical.

Ed Holder - Insurance broker with philosophy degree - Minister of state and science
Rona Ambrose - Poli-Sci major - Minister of environment, minister of health
Leona Aglukkaq - Never made any post secondary education public and refused to do so - Minister of health, minister of environment
Greg Rickford - Nurse/Lawyer - Minister of natural resources
Peter Mckay - Lawyer - Minister of defense

Vs. some of the appointments now...
Minister of transport - astronaut, minister of science - Nobel prize winner and scientist, minister of health - gasp, an actual doctor, minister of defense - decorated soldier, minister of social development - poverty economist

I'm thinking this is a wee bit more aligned to what is actually needed for the role rather than just patronage for loyalty no? Aside from the whole forced gender equality bits.

I don't know. Sounds a lot more like petty retrospective analysis by a sore winner than anything else. (Not you personally rather the original source of the critique)

It ignores all other factors which go into play, such as

Gender balance
Representatives from each large municipality
Bilingualism
Communication and leadership intangibles
diversity of opinion from prior ministers
Amongst others

This isn't to say that people on that list are not ripe for critique, rather it is to say there are more effective and less petty ways to critique - such as performance rather than personal attack

Personally I was very disappointed by Ambrose and thought Edmonton needed a much more effective advocate. However she clearly has the support of her peers by being elected as interim leader.

She's also said some incredibly dumb things when she's been in front of the cameras. That doesn't necessarily mean she's going to be a bad leader, but to those of us who were concerned that the CPC was going to keep going in the direction of the Reform/Alliance crowd, her appointment kind of validates those concerns at least temporarily.

Well, for what it is worth, put me in the category of wanting her replaced as Edmonton's minister even had the CPC won the election.

Defence Minister Harjit Sajjan says Canadians needn't fear ISIS

Quote:
Canada's new defence minister, Harjit Sajjan, says the country must contribute to the defeat of ISIS, but he rejected the idea that Canadians should be afraid of the jihadist organization.

"ISIS is a threat, no doubt about that. Should we fear it? No. The Canadian population should have full confidence in all the security services to keep us safe."

Sajjan said that in confronting ISIS, there is more that can be done.

"We need to get better as an international coalition … better at looking at the threats early on, to making sure that we identify them early so they don't balloon into these big threats," he said.

"They were smaller at one time, we need to get better at identifying the subtle indicators so we might be able to have dealt with it diplomatically."

It's entirely possible it turns out that today might not have been the best day to downplay the threat of ISIS to a civilian population

As part of the mandate for the Minister of Environment and Climate Change, admission to all of Canada's national parks will be free in 2017 for Canada's 150th birthday. New Canadians will get their first year as citizens to explore all of Canada's national parks without paying admission.

Quote:
Make admission for all visitors to National Parks free in 2017, the 150th anniversary of Confederation. Beginning in 2018, ensure that admission for children under 18 is free, and provide any adult who has become a Canadian citizen in the previous 12 months one year’s free admission.
All the mandate letters have been made public here:

I read that three times as my first thought was "It's always free on Canada Day." Then "wait, what? Free all year long? I'm spending all of the summer of 2017 in the Highlands National Park, this is sweet!"
