Pressure on KC Friday. They don't want it to go to 7...baseball more than any sport can turn so quickly within a game.
Tulo clutch today, and what else can be said about Estrada being clutch after a stinky game 1. Simply lights out.
Volquez pitched well...a whole bunch of close pitches there in the 6th....we've seen a lot less quality pitches go as strikes this post season. Correct calls, but those don't always go that way.
Price gets another crack at redemption after being robbed of it last game.
Estrada probably ok in the pen for Game 7, Dickey as well. All hands on deck of course...but again, its all the pressure of KC to close out Friday.

My dream scenario for the offseason was always Shark on a five year term and Iwakuma on a one year term. Estrada has etched his way into my being ok with a three year term for him. The issue is that while Shark had a down year, and Iwakuma is old and happy with reasonable returns, Estrada is going to command more than he has in his entire playing career. Clutch performances in the post season shows a tonne of character.

I haven't checked the FA list, but having said that, with no up and comers in the Jays farm, I'm thinking resigning both Dickey and Estrada is necessary. They're both guys who will get you to the playoffs, as well as Price. Dickey then moves to the 5th starter who won't see playoff action (unless he's held to the bullpen). The key would be the 2nd and 3rd starter. Estrada as 3rd or 4th is perfect. It's going to be a really difficult off-season for AA.
Just out of curiosity, if the Jays happen to make it past this round (I'm skeptical, even as a fan), given Loup's situation, do you risk being short on lefties if he has to leave again, or do you leave him off the WS roster? I guess we don't know if it's a family illness, but if it's the current situation, I don't keep him on the roster, and instead have Buerhle, and I also take out Hawkins for Jeff Francis, while also maybe waiting for Cecil. What ever happened to Delabar?

So the ump has come out and said that ball 4 to Bautista was a strike? To me that's still such a borderline pitch. If it touches the plate then I need to see a replay on super slow mo because I still didn't see it. Of course Ned Yost is complaining about it too, saying he think Bautista swung.
Volquez was nibbling away all game. I'm sorry but you live and die by that approach, umps gave him some other strikes that weren't strikes. The ump apologizes to Sal Perez?! Give me a break.

Yeah, BS story. Perez didn't hear about it, so pretty much Volquez is making up the story. I don't know if the umps would want a "mistake" made public. Seems like he really didn't think his answer through.

I thought it was a strike, and I thought Bautista swung, but I don't see how it mattered that much. EE walked, which would have loaded the bases, and Cola would have only been the second out, so Tulo still would have cleared the bases with his double. Seems like a weird thing to complain about after the game.

KC will have to win on Friday, if not, I think the Jays will win game 7. After losing to SF in game 7 last year, if ALCS goes to 7, there'll be too many thoughts on the Royals players mind to win game 7 in all likelihood.

Considering how many 'not actually over the plate but still called a strike' that KC pitchers have been gifted this series, perhaps they shouldnt be complaining about the one close call that didnt go their way.
And Fox has the absoute worst pitch tracker ever.

Haha fair enough. I just think it's a bogus story and is kind of classic Royals being sore losers.

I'd be curious who is #1 on the list.
That said, 7 innings of shutout, one hit ball in an elimination game? Pretty darn good -- I'll give him a pass for giving up the HR in the 8th.

I heard after that it was Dave Steib, 1985 ALCS game 1.

Looks like I missed a good ball game. Glad to see the Jays extend the series.

Fangraphs was saying that in 2015, pitches in that exact spot were called a strike 46% of the time. So its basically the definition of a borderline pitch and there's no "right" call. Great pitch in a 3-2 count, but also a great job of holding off by Bautista. The Royals have gotten more than enough close strike calls this series so its hard for them to complain.
Either way, Tulo's big hit came with 1 out so it really wouldn't have made difference. One less run in but the game was still broken open

In my opinion, the Jays and the Royals have to be two of the most disliked teams in baseball. Constant whining, yapping to the media, and crossing the line with arrogance.
I'm a life long Blue Jays fan so I kind of turn a blind eye to it, but if I wasn't a longtime Jays fan I'm pretty sure I'd have a serious hate on for the team the same way I do for the Canucks. Most of it would be centered around Bautista like it was with my Kesler/Burrows on the Canucks. His actions are absolutely ridiculous. I'm not a big Derrick Holland fan, but his interview about Bautista was spot on. The bat flip thing is overblown, that was pure emotion, but there's no arguing the rest of his comments.
We as Jays fans sure feel we get the raw end of the deal on some borderline calls. I'm pretty sure the way Bautista acts sure doesn't help us in that regard.

Hard to believe, but Cecil says he'll be ready to go for the World Series, if we get there. His calf muscle is still torn, but he says its completely numb right now and he can't feel the pain.

I feel like if you can re-sign Price and Estrada then you let Dickey walk. If you can't bring those guys back then you can pick up the option on Dickey.
