But yeah the Globe endorsement is a joke. I almost think they were told who to endorse and then went out of their way to make it as non-sensical an endorsement as possible. You're going to endorse the current party of government... but not the leader... who is the one that chooses the government via cabinet appointments? It's nonsense, you don't get one without the other.

Seriously, #### or get off the pot Globe. If you want to endorse the Tories then endorse the Tories but don't try to have your cake and eat it to.

It's too bad they have two hashtags for this. #MoreGlobeEndorsements is going off as well.

Glad to see CPC support hanging in at it's core 30-35%. Also glad to see the swings between NDP and Lib- showing a lot of soft support on the fringes of both flipping around. Bodes well for the CPC on Monday, hopefully.

I could only get through the first couple paragraphs of that article before deciding it wasn't worth my time. I'm always open to hear reasonable opinions from the other side but damn.

Quote:
All elections are choices among imperfect alternatives, and this one more than most. Each of the parties has gaps, deficiencies and failings. But choose, voters must.
I agree with this, sort of, but don't think it's anything special to this election, as no party is ever going to hit on every single point someone cares about. But I think this is largely a CPC rhetoric trying to make themselves look better by basically saying "Hey, everyone has warts! Everyone else's warts are scarier because we say so. Stick with us because...we're already here, it's just easier. C'mon. " Frankly, it's BS.

Quote:
That’s why the Liberals and the New Democrats, while running on the rhetoric of change, put forward economic platforms built largely on acceptance of the Conservative status quo.
Absolute garbage. The only similarities between NDP and CPC is to balance the budget. What the budget is being used for, and who will be contributing to it the most, is completely different. Putting beside the obvious difference of running deficits, the LPC is also pulling resources from different places, and contributing the resources to different places. These things are important. You can't just say, "Look! NDP wants to balance the budget too, you might as well vote for us. Look! the LPC is going to use deficits to combat recession just like we did, which helped! But we're not going to do that again... because tax!" what the money is being spent on (or not spent on) is the important part. Not necessarily how much.

Quote:
The key issue of the election should have been the economy and the financial health of Canadians.
It is. Just not about the financial health of those who are financially very healthy and will be regardless of an extra 3% off their income.

Quote:
In an election about the economy, the Conservatives might have won, and would have deserved to. But thanks to the Harper government’s own choices, this election has mostly not been fought on the Conservative Party’s strong suit. Attention has instead been turned to the rotten culture of Mr. Harper’s government.

The thing is, the other two major parties have so much respect for the Conservatives’ record on economic, fiscal and tax policy that they propose to change almost none of it.
Okay, even if that last sentence was remotely true, is this not an endorsement of the other parties more than anything else? "Hey! We know there's a rotten culture, but those other parties respect our fiscal prowess so much so that they have similar policies without the morally bankruptness! ...But don't vote for them....because economy...which they are going to treat the same... it certainly got dark after I stuck my head up my own ass."

And that's where I stopped reading.

In a twist shocking no one, the Sun Media Group endorses Harper.

I can't help but laugh while reading through that. I just seems so...fake. Like written word for word by Harper himself.

Postmedia owns almost every major paper across the country so it'll be surprising when we don't see a Harper newspaper endorsement.

My response to the "my vote doesn't count" crowd is this:

You may not be able to change Canada for the better on your own, but there's no excuse for not doing what is within your power to do. You can either be a part of the problem or a part of the solution. Cast your ballot, be a part of the solution, and set a positive example for others to do the same. If you do your part, you can't be blamed for contributing to the huge percentage of eligible voters who choose to sit idly by as their country keeps being run by corrupt politicians.

I don't think much of the Globe endorsement but I will concede that calling for the (future) PM to resign is a pretty harsh condemnation from a generally conservative paper. Unless Harper wins big i expect the knives will come out

Assuming Monday ends with a Liberal minority government, does anybody think that Elizabeth May gets a cabinet post in some kind of quasi-coalition?

Might be good optics for a new PM.

I'll be voting Liberal this time around, the Globe's endorsement generally mirrors my own thoughts this election as a centrist voter. Well done.
