I think the Rangers are crazy to start Hamels over Gallardo.
Hope I'm right.

Gibbons already said in his post game that Price is not playing in Game 5.

Crazy day for baseball. Jays game was the lowest scoring of the night.

Wow I am amazed its going to five games. What a whirlwind of baseball these past few days have been. I can barely even handle myself during games I am so stressed, I don't know how the players, especially the pitcher can do it. Playoff baseball truly is a lot of fun.
Stroshow Wednesday, there is nothing the kid can't do in my opinion.

Just watched Price and R.A.'s press conference and Dickey is pure class. I know that I get worked up whenever he pitches but damn I do like the guy and enjoy listening to him talk.
I am happy he is representing the Jays.

After he retires he is going to make an awesome broadcaster or coach.

Every time I see Dickey speak I have more respect for him - very articulate, thoughtful, and pure class.
He was pulled after 4 and 2/3rds - one more batter and he gets his 1st W in the playoffs. He was absolutely pissed at being pulled at that point - and who wouldn't be.
But he handled it like a champion.

To recap:
1) their best leftie in the bullpen, Cecil, is out with an injury
2) their only other leftie, Loup, is not available for the game
3) so Price is their only leftie available
4) Gibby puts Price in during the 3rd time through the order, when the lefties are due up. He leaves him in once through the order, and twice through the lefties in the middle of the order.
5) he then hands it over to Sanchez and Osuna for 4 easy outs and the W
The majority of fans on this site, twitter, and probably everywhere else, call him an idiot for the strategy.
It works. Beautifully.
Not one person says: maybe Gibby was right and I was wrong.

Yeah once it became clear that Loup wasn't available, his reasoning to bridge the gap from Dickey all the way to Sanchez with Price was really the best move.

I hated it at the time. I hate it now, but it was the right move. It doesn't matter, when you win it's the right move.
Astros manager made the wrong move, whatever it was or wasn't.

It was the right move IMO.
Even with Price the game ended 8-4.
Maybe you stick with Dickey there and then Choo and Beltre both get hit, maybe then it is 7-3 when you go to Price in the 6th instead of 7-1.
Price gives up the same 3 runs and then it is 7-6 and a game all of a sudden.
It was a must win game, and Gibbons did what he needed to do to make sure the Jays won.

It was the right move going with the lefty arm for the third time through the rotation with no other lefties in the bullpen...and one who could handle some long relief.
And with the way Price has been pitching vs Texas, we might have dodged a bullet anyways. As crazy as it sounds on the surface, I'm almost happier having a rested Stroman starting Game 5 over a rested Price.

I almost think that this is just as big of a motivation for Gibbons to use Price in Game 4. Takes the debate of who to start in Game 5 right out of the equation without stirring up any trouble or bruising any egos (other than Dickey, but he can handle it).

Well,
just got back from TO from games 1 and 2. Yes, i'm bad luck, so I'm happy not to be there for tomorrow. But WOW. That was intense being there. I personally don't think that it was as loud as Calgary was in 04 (or at least game 1 wasn't..game 2 was louder), but it was awesome!
And for someone who is normally a Bautista hater, I loved it when the crowed was chanting Bull**** in the 14th inning and he was throwing his arms up in right field trying to get us to say it louder.

What a series. Managed to grab a ticket for game 5 when general public tickets were released, and was not thinking/hoping it would get this far, but now that it's here I'm beyond excited to go.
Game 5, home field, and Stro show on the mound...that's magical stuff right there. Hope the bats can get to Hamels and we don't have to deal with the Rangers bullpen in a tie game or deficit. If we can avoid that, great chance to take the series.
Go Jays go!!

That's what it sounds like, but Gallardo will be available for relief similar to Price yesterday. Hamels will have a short leash if he finds early trouble.

Any Jays parties downtown tomorrow? I could be easily persuaded to watch it in bar if there was any rowdy venues showing the game.

@Alpine.
The game is at 2, but we've been going to the Palomino. Great food and great atmosphere.
