He was pitching today on 3 days rest.

Gibbons mentions Loup had an "issue" and wasn't ready to go tonight.
That could also explain the timing and duration of the Price appearance.

Sounds as if Loup wasn't in the ballpark. Gibby looking 4 batters ahead to Choo when pulling Dickey.

Dickey: "it's amazing what you can accomplish when you don't care who gets the credit."

Also nowhere near thrilled about getting pulled. Pretty shocked and borderline upset actually but happy for the win. Says he and Gibby will talk and he respects Gibby.
Gibby says Price not ready for Wed. But, Price says hes good for Wed.

With how it is set up now, if the Jays advance, you have Estrada in game 1, Price on normal 4 days rest for game 2, Stroman on 4 days rest for game 3, Dickey for game 4, Estrada for 5, Price for 6 and Stroman for 7.
That's pretty much a perfect set up both in terms of rest and order of pitchers.
Here's hoping the Stro Show has an electric game 5.

I like the move to bring in Price in this game. For whatever reason the Rangers have his number. In a 7-1 game though, give him a chance to work out some kinks and pick up the win. He got knocked around a bit but I think Stroman starting game 5 gives the team the best chance to win. He was lights out in Game 2 after the first couple of innings.
Finally the bats are going. Can't wait for game 5!

Pretty crazy to think back to the start of this season, with the Stroman injury and the rocky first couple months.
To think now we get to see Marcus Stroman take Center stage at Rogers Center for game 5 of the ALDS really is pure awesome.

That kid deserves some kind of award for the resiliency he's shown. Nobody other than himself said he'd be back and sure as ****...

Do we know who is umpiring game 5? Hopefully it's not a Hamels-Stroman-Carapazza repeat.

The crew chief. I remember hearing he started in the left field just for this reason. If they series went to 5 games, he wanted to call it himself.

I'm really wondering if Dickey makes an appearance in game 5 if Stroman is pulled at all? That would be a very surprising move, but would surely absolutely mess up Texas' timing.

I said after game 2 that if the Jays can come back and beat Texas that they would go all the way. Looking dominant out there with their backs against the wall.
I think Stroman is the guy you want starting Game 5 -- by getting Price in there today it eliminates any issue of which guy to pick. Hope it works out.

No chance that Dickey makes an appearance on two days rest.

If anyone it would be Estrada, but I think you might see Price first instead even though he threw 50 pitches today.
I think you'd see Hendricks, Lowe, Sanchez, and Osuna in there for an inning each if Stroman only goes 5.
