Problem with all the fringe NDPers who signed that manifesto, those are exactly the people who will be given positions in an NDP government to push all sorts of policy initiatives. We already see it here with parachute NDPers dropping in to help the Notley government.

I also find it ridiculous that a bunch of rich artists who have already paid their income taxes to push for an overhaul of a pretty successful economy. Easy to climb aboard when you won't be the one footing the bill. Most are living in the US and paying no Canadian taxes, they aren't residents of Canada and should have essentially zero say in how things are run.

I think it is actually working for them. They have until September 28th to finalize their candidates and the extra time is helping them to weed out the bad apples. It would have been better for the opposition if these things came to light after the deadline. Now they have time to put in a new candidate and rebuild a little.

Not that I am agreeing with Eldrick's opinion on his authority, Pittis definitely writes click-bait articles, and this is certainly one of them.

He talks about how the deficits occured during a "commodities and energy boom-cycle" and disregards the fact that our major trading partner - the US - as well as the rest of the world was/is going through one of the slowest recoveries after the last recession. If you look at the deficits graph, it is exactly what one would expect from a slow recovery, drawn out, tepid return to growth that the US (and thus Canada) has experienced.

Anyone who has followed the macro economic picture over the last five years can recognize that the deficits Canada has logged did not occur in isolation.

I would venture to guess that at least the actors reside mostly in Canada (Vancouver), when not working.

Conversely, I find that a lot of the people I work for who think the NDP are starting a Bolshevik revolution are the same people who "live" in Arizona, or California or Ireland, or plan to move if the NDP take power.

Well replacing the candidates in these cases seems irrelevant, they were races they were going to lose anyway. It's just more negative headlines that will go national and it just reflects very poorly for the party. Outside the surplus news, they've had nothing positive going for them the entire campaign.

I'm not sure there is such thing as weeding out the bad apples when the tree itself is the problem. It can't be coincidence when you have many dismissed party members, lots of problem staffers, a crap load of criminal charges and now three dismissed candidates. This is the most out of any campaign I've followed. There's a reason Harper muzzles his party members, everyone would realize how many crazy/corrupt/racist/sexist/deviants they have in otherwise.

If anyone else is sick of this, here is a voting guide to follow to vote Harper out on a per riding basis. Seems to be getting updated regularly

Anyone going to Prime Minister Harper's rally tonight in Calgary? I got an invitation but I'm unable to go due to a time conflict with a family event. Should be interesting.

I have no idea why the wing nuts on either side decide that this is their time to surface. This isn't much different than what you might see from conservatives on the other side on different issues.
On top of it theres some major union signatories on this which represents a huge part of the NDP campaign engine.

This puts Mulcair in a tough spot, basically if people don't believe that the Libs and CPC are looking at this gleefully they're mistaken.

There's some mileage here.

Mulcair is going to be faced with the tough choice of outright saying that people that are campaigning for him are out of their gosh darned minds and don't speak for the NDP.

This is very similar to the opening days of the Reform-CPC merger when Harper was sabotaged by the wing nuts on the right and lead to a lack of trust by the voters.

Basically this has become the NDP version of the hidden agenda. Unless Mulcair comes out and creates separation with these people, he might see the uncertain voters that were looking at the NDP to go elsewhere in the voting tent.

Don't expect that story to get much traction, the media isn't exactly pushing it.

Globe and Mail has already buried the story a few hours later even though it is their 8th most popular story.

You have to search for the CBC story, it's not on their politics page.

They almost totally ignore the economic part and only talk about the environment.

It's quite remarkable that he could be the first PM elected who has never talked to any average people who haven't been vetted. His lack of democracy and democratic respect is truly amazing.

Here's my favourite article, especially with the photo they chose, that's sort of on topic. http://infotel.ca/newsitem/man-in-bl...dgw0eus.mailto

Its a little early for you to say its getting no traction, both the Libs and CPC will be doing their best to make this a story.

Come back in a few days and lets see what happens.

Apparently John Baird did not resign of his own accord but was forced out due to sexual impropriety on Israeli soil. On the 2012 visit to Israel Baird allegedly sexually used a couple of underage at an Israeli brothel and there is supposed video evidence thereof.

Anonymous hacked these earlier and just started leaking a bunch of documents to the press and I'd expect some headlines out of this shortly turn out to verifiable true.

If you research it, this is actually a pretty interesting idea. I know it would never fly in our current political environment, but it would be more affordable than you think (you can do away with a lot of the current hit/miss welfare programs) and depending on where you set the number, still provides a strong incentive to work.

Here's an old CP discussion on the topic: http://forum.calgarypuck.com/showthread.php?t=134765

Weren't these allegations from a few months back?

Disgusting if true, but I would have to see what this evidence is.

Yes. They only started posting to press now. Maybe they did this for impact.

Of course they did, that's why until I see it I have trouble trusting it.

It will be interesting to see if the mainstream media will pick this up anytime soon. If its legit that could hurt the CPC's chances in the election.
