I don't believe that any of the parties have released actual platforms yet (early days in the campaign still.)

Yeah, previously the parties would usually release their full platform around the consortium debates which were about two weeks before the end of the campaign. I would expect that timeframe to hold so that the parties can try to win a news cycle or two in the home stretch.

So... yeah... I wouldn't expect to see them for a long while.

I'm on board with the idea that that polling site for who you match up with politically leans in one particular direction or another, but it is somewhat sad to see people self-identifying with a party and then dismissing it because it doesn't match the branding they have grown accustomed to.

Personally, I've watched the political spectrum shift so much that as a Lougheed Conservative I identify most with the NDP platform.

NDP Leader Thomas Mulcair is just as dictatorial as Conservative Leader Stephen Harper, says New Democrat turned-Green MP Bruce Hyer.

In a Facebook post Sunday, Hyer said that if voters handed Mulcair and the NDP a majority government this fall, Canadians would be on their way to enjoying “another dictatorial Prime Minister.”

“Mulcair is a ruthless man who will say and do anything to get elected. Just like Stephen Harper,” wrote Hyer, the incumbent candidate in the Ontario riding of Thunder Bay–Superior North. “He certainly is not Jack Layton, and the NDP is no longer the Democratic Party that it was under Jack Layton.”

Since Layton’s death, Hyer said, the NDP now stands for “Non Democratic Party.”

Mulcair exercises “ruthless control” over the messaging of his candidates, Hyer wrote. The new leader made all votes in the Commons “whipped," he said, meaning that NDP MPs must vote the party line, even on issues not related to the party’s platform.

When he was still in the NDP caucus, Hyer said he was told that if he didn’t follow the voting wishes of the leader and the party, he would be “punished” and his nomination papers would not be signed.

In 2012, Hyer — elected in 2008 and 2011 under the NDP banner — left the party after Mulcair did not include him in his shadow cabinet. He had voted in favour of scrapping the long-gun registry earlier, to keep a promise he said he made to his constituents. In 2013, he crossed the floor and joined the Greens.

Is that what you took as the main point of that post? I didn't really think pointing out the primary demographics of a certain group qualified as a complaint against said group.

Yep, it's almost as if the job market in Victoria is different than the one in Calgary.

Anyways, my point was never about white guys, it was a discussion about empathy. I do think that if we're going to serious start shifting away from O&G that the government owes it to O&G workers to help provide them with training and skills that make them employable in other industries.

Calgary Lib candidate has a bit of a checkered twitter history to say the least.

In one, she tells a strident defender of Israel: "Your mother should have used that coat hanger."

In another, she tells a tweeter she deems a racist to "go blow your brains out you waste of sperm."

And in yet another, she reports that she just got her hair cut and looks "like a flipping lesbian."

Says it was just because she was a teen and stupid....3 years ago....but shes all better now.

How does this keep happening? Seemingly every party at every level of government has had an embarrassing incident with a candidate's previous social media history. Why does this not get vetted and scrubbed before the candidates enter the limelight?
