He's not entirely wrong, but it isn't as common as team owners will tell you. Camden Yards in Baltmore is a famous example of it working, just as Glendale Arena is a famous example of it not.

Honestly a little surprised by the cynicism shown today. Shouldn't be I suppose but I am.

Camden Yards totally transformed Baltimore! I never wanted to go there before. Now, I wouldn't mind having to drive through it!

Agreed. A project of this magnitude will contain thousands of details all of which won't be loved by everyone. However, how any one can not be excited about this from an overall perspective boggles me.

Well done, and get digging!!

Some people are just cynical by nature, can't really change that. It's just what they're used to and what they're comfortable with. I try not to let their cynicism affect me.

Do you plan on adding anything of value to the discussion at any point?

Hyperbole in your opinion perhaps, but Calgary is changing regardless of whether you like it or not and regardless of CalgaryNEXT. See Deerfoot Mall for instance, or the evolution of malls in our city in the last decade.

So the new stadium is going to seat less than the current stadium? I get that they will probably have a bigger focus on suites but still figured they would increase seating not decrease it.

You have to give it to Ken. He was and still is the best investment Calgary Flames owners has made. This guy is capable of selling the Brooklyn Bridge if he ever decides to...

I saw the show in Calgary and Edmonton and while not a big deal they got the full show up there where as Calgary was scaled back a bit.

Further to the concerts thing. At the meeting King mentioned the load for the saddledome ceiling is around 90k lbs. Current arenas are closer to 200k. In the winter time they have to factor in 30k for snow.
