Not surprised Najib did that. His country is on a verge of chaos due to corruption charges against him. He needs to deflect attention away anyway possible.

It might not be 100% certain beyond any shred of doubt, but I'm not going to blame the Malaysian government for wanting to put some closure on this and start narrowing in on the search. It's far more likely that it is from MH370 then any other possible scenario.
Yeah, family members freaking out in protests in Beijing still thinking their loved ones are still alive somewhere after 17 months. It's beyond ridiculous now, you can only explain to people that there is no other 777 missing, no other aircraft part matches the one found, before you just raise your hands and say OK pal...there still is a chance!

I also ask this in the other Malaysian Airline disaster thread. Have all the pieces/parts from MH17 been accounted for? More specifically, the flaperons?

Do you think the Russians dragged it around the ocean for over a year(to grow the barnacles) and then deposit it on reunion island?

I didn't read the other thread so maybe I missed something? but why the ask?

I can't tell if he's asking to debunk the conspiracy theorists or if he is actually sincerely asking this?

It's to debunk the conspiracy. The Russians didn't do anything to the MH370 mystery. I just wanted to know how much of the aircraft of flight MH17 has been recovered.

"Eye-witness reports: Locals from the island of Kudahuvadhoo in the Maldives reported witnessing 'a low-flying jumbo jet' on the morning of March 8 last year when MH370 disappeared"

This is only coming out now

Edit:Nevermind, looks like it was dismissed-

"But the investigation dismissed the reports, insisting it would have been impossible for the plane to have been anywhere near the islands."

I believe this came out at the time of the disappearance, but was dismissed as unreliable by the Maldivian government (and I suppose also because of the satellite ping data). Now, if the Maldives debris is truly from MH370, they will probably reexamine this possibility.

If there are multiple account of this, it's ridiculous that they just completely dismissed it.

Someone is going to look very stupid if this turns out to be correct.

The debris found on the Maldives could be from a capsized barge.

Families are not satisfied with the Reunion Island stories.

The flaperon has been confirmed to be from MH370.

Meh, lots of people find crazy ways to crash a plane on a sim.

If he did it, I don't get why you even need to do a trial run on a home sim that can't replicate the factors you'll face trying to commit mass murder in the real thing. Dude was a type rating instructor for the 777... not many people know the airplane better than he did.

Practice an official radar avoiding path

I suspect that area is littered with unofficial radars for military installations

But what would the point be of even trying to avoid it? Wouldn't the outcome be the same? He would just get shot down instead of running out of fuel.
