Am I the only one that thinks Harper is equally as creepy as Mulcair, or are we all just used to seeing the creepy dead eyes and awkward lizard smile that it doesn't register anymore?
Yes, you are. Unless robots creep you out. Harper looks like an emotionless robot.
Mulcair inspires one to grasp their child's hand tighter, pull them closer, and walk that much faster to get away.
I actually really thought May did a good job being the in-debate fact-checker. I also liked her point about how having a balanced budget isn't the be all end all. I actually have no problem with the fact that the Conservatives have run deficits. The problem comes when they're deficits are being spent on the wrong things.
Yup and she nailed him on promising Canadians things based on a balanced budget so it becomes a must (even if numbers are fudged to get it)

I thought that all of them looked creepy when they gave their fake smiles to the camera. Trudeau probably pulled it off the best, but that is more his schtick. I really question the wisdom of their handlers when they keep telling the debaters to give us their forced smiles. They seem to come off a lot better when they are forgetting to smile and just act naturally.
It is obvious that the well is poisoned for Trudeau on this site. People here just don't like the way he looks or his voice or something. Non-Calgarypuck consensus is that he was one of the better performers.
Mulcair wasn't very good. I watch Question Period often (don't ask why) and he is much better in that venue. He was way too wooden and used a lot of answers and accusations that you could tell were rehearsed. He is much better in a less-scripted setting.
Harper performed well. He cherry-picked a lot of his "facts", but what else is new. He was solid.
May was the best performer in my view. The biggest problem that I had with her was the creepy smile after her closing remarks. Why do they do that?
That debate tells us why Mulcair won't attend any debate that Harper isn't at. If Harper isn't there then he becomes the main target of Trudeau and May.
This probably aligns with a lot of thoughts on the campaign at this point http://natpo.st/1SYoG9Z
"I cannot vote for them. I just can’t. They should be my natural choice but their coarse, vindictive, proudly unprincipled cynicism must not be rewarded with electoral success, regardless of the consequences."
Really? This is a terrible way to approach your voting decision. The consequences are literally the only thing that matters. If the best consequences would result from their election, it really shouldn't matter whether you find the party's identity likeable. I know that in the real world this isn't how it goes, but for someone to provide that quote in a self-aware manner... that's indefensible.

Are we getting the best possible outcome if we elect them again? There is literally no information to back that claim up. You can point to rhetoric and things like that, but zero data that proves this point. Welcome to politics.

How can there be data for a future outcome? All we can do is guess who will be able to form the best government.
The problem with the quote is that the journalist is saying he can't vote for them because of their attitude, which is dumb, obviously. You should be voting based on who you think can form the best governement.

WTF are you talking about? I'm talking about a decision-making process... no one has a crystal ball, but voting decisions, ideally, are based on a rational evaluation of what policies you think will have the best results and what party platform best adheres to that. It's not about punishing a leader or party because you think they're smug and cynical. This is not a popularity contest.

There's a pretty good chance we'll get change one way or another. If Harper only gets a minority or loses altogether you'd have to think the CPC will want to transition to a new leader. Liberals have to end up at least a strong 2nd or Trudeau is probably gone. And it might not be win or resign for Mulcair but it's pretty close, you'd think the NDP would want to move on as well. I think any scenario that isn't a CPC majority is acceptable.

I can't find a platform yet on any of the three major party websites. At what point do I get to read that so I can actually form an opinion?
