IMO the first miss by Treliving this offseason.

lol, $300K over, or less than $1M over the life of the contract. Oh noes!

I am ok with this contract. I felt he deserved 2 per for a few years, so this is right there.
Bouma needs to make money, because I fear that his style of play isn't going to lend itself to a long career.

A little less then I was thinking, great deal in my eyes. I was expecting about $2.5M with $3M at the worst. 3 years is what makes it worth while, can be a gamble going with the 1 year deals. Also has the potential to be a steal if his offence stays on the upswing.

glad we have him for 3 years. Feel like he's an important cog in the machine. The wheels don't fall off without him, but man it helps when he's there.
guessed 2.1, he got 2.2. Really....if we're arguing about 300K over 3 years....we're really counting the coppers here and doing the due diligence, but we're right where we should be.

Good news. Glad this went in Bouma's favor.
2.1-2.2 per is pretty much where the Flames should have been all along.
Still unsure why they were squeezing Lance at 1.5m.
What i am most pumped about is Bouma got a 3 year contract from the Flames!
Good job.

Fine with that.
Integral part of the team, and I'm still baffled why there was talk in the other thread of him easily being replaced by other guys in the system.
What he brings to this team can't be quantified in numbers or stats. The guy leaves it all out on the line.

Put me in the minority here, I like Bouma plenty, but I'm not a huge fan of this deal. If his performance for the next three years stays at the level it was at last year, the deal looks good. If he regresses though and it looks like we're paying 1.5mil guy 2.2mil, we might really wish we had an extra 700k around to help lock up star players when they come off their ELCs. These type of wait and see deals (which it is IMO) can come back and bite teams. Even though amount of dollars may be relatively small, in a tight cap situation every dollar will matter.
That said, I'm happy for Bouma, hope he is content with the deal and continues to bring a lot of jam to his game to show he is worth what he got, and ideally more.

Honestly, it initially seems a bit high...
...but then remember we're debating about a) a difference of about 200k within a $70M+ cap, b) a player that brings so much to this team in more ways than one, and c) a contract that is worth way more than some of the other uselessness that's using up our cap space (cough*Raymond*cough*$3M*cough).
It's a bit high, but I'm really not having a problem with it whatsoever. If he hits 15+ goals again, I'm gonna like it quite a bit.

Love Bouma and glad he is signed. AAV is too high for me, given a three year term. But we are only talking about a few hundred K.
Frankly of all the contracts Treliving and Burke have negotiated there are more that I dislike (Stajan, Raymond, Engelland) than I like (Brodie). There a few others (Frolik, Backlund, Bouma) that are on the high side of OK.
Hamilton contract is OK but the fact that we have the guy on our team is hard to believe so counts as a win.
Starting to be likely that it is bye bye Hudler and Russell.

I was expecting around, or slightly less than, 2M per year for RFA years and 2.5M per year per year for UFA years given the premium. So 6.6M is almost exact. Going to say fair deal all around.

Good deal, I thought there would have been a 4th year. I was expecting 4 years (2.2, 2.4, 2.6, 2.8)... the 3 year version of this would have been @ $2.4M, so about 200k lower then I expected. I could see UFA years easily going to $3M+, but thought 2 of those UFA years might come in a little early for a discount later on. (Easier to move the contract if need be.)
I actually don't think he will break down over the next half decade; wouldn't surprise me to see shot blocking ruled/phased out, and I actually see a little Gary Roberts in in Bouma (a 15-20 goal version, not 50 goals). His shot is a lot better than I expected, and for his size, he skates quite well.

Don't know why anyone is upset with his deal. He's making about a million less per year compared to Stajan and provides a lot more. Not to knock Stajan, he's a solid bottom six / PKer that provides leadership but Bouma is definitely more valuable.

This is a negotiated deal agreed to by Bouma and the Flames. It is not an arbitration award.
