I'd pay good money to throw the first match.

Alas, red brick and cinder block don't burn worth a damn. When the time comes, maybe everyone on CP should chip in and rent a trebuchet. We could make our money back by letting people launch boulders at the station for a buck a throw.

Red brick, however, is worth a damn. You don't just throw that out in Alberta, especially if you don't have to!

I have a source who has seen KK's presentation and said West Village is the location. But not moving any major roads, which I find surprising.

That's all right. The beauty of using a trebuchet is that it knocks the building down whilst being relatively easy on the bricks themselves. A few hundred good shots, and an ugly Greyhound station is magically transformed into a life-size LEGO set!

Can we launch boulders at the station and then launch station debris at McMahon using a second trebuchet?

Surely he told you a few other things he saw in the presentation.

He couldn't share much, just that it's ambitious and will be great for the city. He mostly just confirmed rumors that everyone already knows - West Village location, CFL stadium, field house, entertainment district, etc. But wasn't willing to give any details (I asked if the stadium would have a roof and he wouldn't say). I'll keep pumping for info and see if he slips up.

Yeah I get he probably needs to be tight lipped to keep his job.
But it's good news though that the rumors of a stadium, entertainment district and arena are somewhat confirmed now. Hopefully the stadium has a roof and real grass.

Very cost prohibitive to have both. I can't see the benefit to the Stamps to try to maintain grass in an open stadium, never mind trying to maintain it in a covered one.

Yeah, there's no way I could see the football stadium having a full roof or real grass. A partial roof to protect fans from the elements like in WPG or Regina? Yeah, I could see that

If Canada ever wants to host or co-host the men's FIFA world cup then we need to start making stadiums with real grass. This is part of an eventual consideration, it's been said...

This is the perfect time to move Bow Trail westbound away from the river.

Well, the proposal probably states that the Flames won't be moving any roads.
I would assume that will fall to The City

I assume there is a difference between moving major roads versus upgrading and expanding them, no?

It will be easier (and cheaper) to put a grass field on top of the fake one and keep it alive for the tournament than build a stadium with real grass permanently.
It's what they did for the US World Cup stadiums (that didn't have grass fields) back in 94.

Sure, but why didn't we do that for the Women's world cup if it was so easy?

They didn't need to. There was no other competition for hosting the Women's World Cup, so Canada was much more able to dictate the terms to FIFA.

Probably because it's not as economical given the attendance for the Women's world cup was about 26,000/game, compared to when it was in the US and they averaged 68,000/game. Also FIFA has stated that sooner or later mens World Cup games will be played on turf at some point and my understanding is part of the reasoning of playing on turf was a test run before allowing it for the men's game.
