And he STILL finished with 54 points in 51 games this season, posting better stats than his previous seasons there too.

Ducks have signed SOB.

Jackman, McGrattan and SOB all reunited.

Haha. Ducks are going all in on the last grasp of the goon era. Seriously, where is the room for those three now? I love Big Ern but I don't see where he'll fit. And O'Brian? Wow.

you guys will like this one. Putting it here as Canucks will need to clear cap space to sign Sven of all things:

NEWS 1130 Sports ‏@NEWS1130Sports 5h5 hours ago Agent Andre Rufener says due to cap issues, term wise, it will take a few weeks before Sven Baertschi signs with the #Canucks.

NEWS 1130 Sports ‏@NEWS1130Sports 5h5 hours ago Rufener says the 2 sides are not far apart, they are on the same page re Baertschi, talking about several different scenarios. #Canucks

NEWS 1130 Sports ‏@NEWS1130Sports 5h5 hours ago
Baertschi rejected his qualifying offer from the #Canucks. They have talked about multiple year deals. Cap space needs to be cleared.

Why would cap space need to be cleared?

There is no way they should be offering him more than $1M (or maybe $1.5M if it's for a few years). Forchristsakes, the guy hasn't even made the team yet!

It isn't as bad as the quote states. The Canucks have 2.8 million in cap space with 12 forwards 8 defencemen and 2 goalies.

They can sign Baertschi with that space.

They likely want more breathing room going into the season.

Multiple years for Sven?

AND he needs to clear cap space?

For Sven Baertschi. Let that sink in for minute.

Benning is such a disaster lol

So sign Sven for $900k, then you have almost $2m in breathing room, which is lots. No way Sven's worth more than that, not to a competent GM at any rate. Why the need to create more cap space unless you're about to overpay Svaertschi? $2m not enough of a cushion?

Plus, the minimum contract is $500K+.

So a contract for $880K - $1M hardly costs a team any additional space.

The only reason that it would make sense to say 'need to clear space' is if it is for significantly more dollars than the league minimum.

Didn't a CP member lose a bet about SOB never playing in the NHL again?

Does this mean that might guy lose his bet again?

Not really, he may just end up playing in the AHL.

Sorry... I should have edited: *might?

It would be a pretty funny convo...

"So... you know that bet you lost to me last year?"
"Yeah?"
"You lost it again. Pay up."
