Obviously, there's better use for that cap space but wouldn't it be ridiculous to watch Calgary roll out the following pairings night in, night out?
Giordano - Brodie
Oduya - Hamilton
Russell - Wideman

It looks amazing... but not worth cap hit.
I'd rather roll with:
Giordano - Brodie
Wotherspoon - Hamilton
Russell - Wideman
Engelland
And then sell Wideman to the highest bidder at the deadline and promote Morrison if he's ready:
Giordano - Brodie
Russell - Hamilton
Wotherspoon - Morrison
Engelland

Ya we need to put the money up front. I know we scored a lot of goals last year but our forward depth is more of a weakness.

In that Conroy interview hosted by the Fireside Chat guys (thanks btw, there were some good segments there) he mentions the Flames brass are still looking for a natural right hand shot on the right wing.

Guys that are rh shots and probably available via trade (can probably dump Raymond in any deal)
Lupul
Purcell
Read (Philly)
Burke has familiarity with Lupuk from Anaheim and Toronto. Very injury prone but good size and scoring touch which may be in decline.
Purcell made a good living in TB as a support player. Expiring contract. Oil may want hiller or ramo
Read. Old regime wanted him but not the biggest player and hextall might want futures back. Has scored 20 a couple of times and is youngest of the batch.
Not sure if these guys would be on Trelivings radar but these are some options, albeit unattractive. But may allow us to dump a bad contract as a result.

our list of right shooting forwards is thin system-wide, i grant you that.
jones
jooris
shore
smith
arnold
carroll
however, hudler and frolik are firmly LH RW's from now on.
that leaves 2 spots (or 3 with injury) for the above group, or you can play someone like colborne on the right as well.
that seems about right to me. i would not add a RW IMO

Speculation that Treliving may be offering a job to Sean Burke:
http://www.foxsports.com/arizona/sto...zations-071515
Should be noted Burke has turned down offers from teams asking him to take on roles as both executive and coach.
Sounds like he truly wants to only be an executive and is looking for opportunities to advance in the organization, which probably doesn't really make Calgary a good fit.

I imagine Treliving is waiting to evaluate guys like Hunter Smith and Austin Carroll in main camp before he pulls the trigger on any RW deals. Both players have NHL-sized frames and if they can translate their recent success against other man-mountains in the pros then they could make an impact.
Garnet Hathaway was very impressive in the AHL last season, and I wonder if he could make a similar impact to what Jooris did last season?
Lots of good players there, but none with top line upside. You know what would make the Summer of Treliving even more of a home run than it already has been? If he could package some of our solid prospects & spare parts and acquire Kyle Okposo from the Isles. If he could get him signed to a solid extension in the process then I would say this team could compete for years to come.

Austin Carroll may just surprise ca few ppl and make the team. IV loved watching him play the last cpl years here in Victoria. Perfect mentality and has a mean streak. To be honest he is a bit of a full package as he can score as well. Could be an amazing 3rd liner

Coyotes looking for rhd and winger. Maybe a soft landing spot for Raymond if we want to dump the contract for nothing? Don't think wideman would waive to go there given the uncertainty over the franchise.
The team wants to add a right-handed defenseman through a trade to play alongside Oliver Ekman-Larsson. The Coyotes thought they had secured such a player in a draft-day trade with Boston for Dougie Hamilton, but Calgary landed him instead.
The Coyotes also hope to add another wing to the mix. Most of the big-ticket forwards have already signed with other teams, but Sean Bergenheim, Brad Boyes, Eric Fehr, Mike Santorelli, Alex Semin and Jiri Tlusty are among the better free agents still available.
A source said the Coyotes are looking to sign a player in the $2 million to $3 million per year range.

Arizona seems like the ideal spot for a guy like Glencross to land.

Bouma-Backlund-Jones
Ferland-Stajan-Colborne
So maybe the Leafs want a package of Granlund, Shore, Jooris, Raymond lol

Or Hudler Bennett Frolik. Hudler and Frolik play all 3 F positions and Bennett has just as much experience at LW as at C, so that combo has a lot of flexibility. Don't think Shanny is going to want that deal, though.

Cool little tidbit - Martin Rucinsky just retired from HC Litvinov, the same club he started with in 1985. 30 Years playing pro hockey is an amazing feat.
