Why is it so important to some of you to know the gruesome details? They're dead, does it really matter how this sicko disposed of their bodies? If the justice system wanted you to know the details, they would release them. If the surviving family wanted you to know the details, they would request they are publicly released.
You are all just cyber-rubberneckers.

I can't speak for anyone else, but the reason I want to know the details, is becasue I want to know if he's guilty, and if the bodies can be recovered.
If this case is based on that grainy photo of a truck driving down the street from 300' away, then I'm going to wonder if they've got the right guy. If they have a wood chipper with DNA, then I'm going to figure they have the right guy.
I'm not sure if it's the parent in me that really wants this case to be solved, but this one bugs me more than other ones I've heard in the past. I don't really care about the details of the drug dealer that got killed, but I do want to know if the family is going to have closure in this case.
I think you're mistaking humanity for morbidity.

If you know the details or not, it will not change the outcome.
I appreciate your reasoning, but many of these posters just want to know, no differently than waiting on the climax in an episode of CSI. They just want to hear the sick details.
Some of the replies with multiple explanation points, seem down right giddy in anticipation to get this dirt. Awesome, yay for you, you guys get to be the rockstar at the next gossip circle at the office, and tell everyone your 'insider details'.
I am not saying this is you 4X4, but some of this is just straight morbidity rearing it's ugly head, and if I was a mod on this board, I wouldn't allow this forum to be the tool to facilitate this type of information sharing. There are many reasons this isn't public, and I am sure the families of the ones killed are one of them. I would personally prefer to respect the wishes of law enforcement, and this family to keep the matter private, until such time as the information is ever publicly released.

Actually, from what I just read in the news, the publication ban was at the request of the defense lawyer. Not the family or the police. Although I dont think the Crown opposed it.

My understanding is that the media ban was requested by the defense lawyer so there's no bias on the jury when selected.

All that matter is that the police, prosecutors, defense lawyers and likely the family know all the details. The people who need to know, know. I agree with Pylon, the public doesn't need to know. My own curiosity wants to have questions answered, but I'm sure the family doesn't want the details plastered online for all to see. I know I wouldn't if it was my family involved.
I don't always agree with publication bans. But in this case I understand why. The entire city was caught up in this case and it's going to be tough to find an impartial jury. Releasing the information satisfies our need for curiosity for a couple minutes, then we all forget about it and life goes on. But for the family, that means those details will always be out there for the rest of time and it would be heartbreaking to have to relive those details over and over by randomly coming across them.
