We'll see what happens in the final but Bassett and Lavogez are the two tragedies of this World Cup.

Well they were better than us so it was warranted then, wasn't it. They almost took the world champs into ET if not for a fluky own goal and outplayed them the whole game too.

62% possession Japan, yeah they sure outplayed them...

Shooting your mouth out is never warranted.

Did you watch the game? England had the better chances by far, possession does not tell the whole story.

Yeah I did, England is a one trick pony that got what they deserved.

I love it when technical teams beat softball squads, next up U.S.

Japan was the better team in the first half, though England had their chances.

England was the better team in the second half.

62% reflects Japan's technical ability with the ball. I'd call it even in the first half and a definite advantage to England in the second half. No Japanese attack really looked threatening until the one Bassett put in her own net, while England hit multiple posts and Japan's possession was often in their own half.

Both coaches were guilty of talking trash. You presumably did not hear what Japan's coach said before the game, because your comical dislike of England is getting in the way of actual fact. If it's trash talkers you don't like then you shouldn't like Japan either.

Odds:

Japan 1.9:1
USA 0.4:1

Here's a bit from Japan's "trash talk" from English midfielder Jill Scott percpective

“I think he said they were technically better than us and pass the ball better than us and to be fair we had to agree,” said Scott.

I just love that the smugness of England's coach got unceremoniously wiped off his face.

He said, they "play incomplete and simple football and are not very good. I'm struggling to figure out how they got here."

Depends which translation you read, I guess.

I think the Young Player Award will be a toss up between Buchanan and Hegelberg.

Hergerberg centered a very competent and experienced Norway front line and still managed to standout, while Buchanan was for me our best defender. It's a tough call for this award, but on a tournament all-star team I'm taking Buchanan on defence but wouldn't consider Hegerberg up front.

I think US wins it 1-0 on a goal after the 70th minute. I like the strength advantage of the US defense vs the Japanese forwards.

Highest finishing European team being England is not a bet I would have made at the start of this tournament.
