And by the new crew, you are referring to your league worst defense / team defense?

Please, elaborate and tell us all about how good Edmonton is going to be.

The last time you spent two years lecturing and informing everyone here about that topic, it was the gift that kept on giving.

Now, this was probably viewed as a an Italian hand gesture of FU proportion from Boston's side. So Mr. Sather, a loyal ex-Oiler GM, winked and said, "Screw that, though I had better offers for Talbot, we will ship him to Edmonton and get this BOA going..."
Of course everything is about Edmonton.

I like the argument that because we had three talented defensemen before and it didn't work out, we should avoid a situation where we have three talented defensemen on the roster ever again.

Treliving opened our Stanley cup window this weekend

Agreed wholeheartedly. I hope the Flames can add a couple decent pieces this week to make a run for the Cup this year.

You'll just disappear again like you always do when your team is out of it by November. I mean come on now Verve, we all know how this is going to go.

On the back of the report that Hamilton is a "loner" and an "uppity kid", thought this interview was interesting. At the 2:40 mark, he's asked if it's nice that there's a few guys going through the same thing(ie: adjusting to life as an NHLer and adult) on the team, and he begins by responding "I think it would be nicer if there was more of us. With some of them having girlfriends and wives, there's only a few single guys, and it's the first time I've lived alone...it's kind of just adjusting to that."

It just might not have been the best fit for a young kid like him on a team full of veterans. On a young team like ours, I'm sure he'll thrive.

December? The Oilers will improve and maintain close proximity to the pack...maybe into January (?) GTG. Beauty sleep awaits...

Thats not it. For me I have not watched Hamilton enough to be completely sold. The stats look good, the progression seems to look good. But does the reputation exceed his abilities? I think not, but I havent seen enough to know.

What I do know is the Flames had a beast of a young defenceman who got better every year. Started making big dollars off his entry level deal and has never been as good as he was that third year. Another guy who was a good skater and should add offence that I didnt see much of was Bouwmeester..reputation exceeded the on ice play big time there.

Here its almost a combination of those two. So I'll want to see something tangible on the ice before I get too excited. Like I said 10 pages back I would have made the deal because if Hamilton is as advertised, you have all your pieces you want to be a serious contender aged at 19-24 and 5 ofthe 6 being 22 or younger.

Agreed. I wouldn't be surprised if he accepted a ck tract similar to the one offered by the Bruins. Maybe the Flames go another million on the AAV and go the full 7 or 8 years they are allowed to go.

I think there is some truth that Dougie wanted out of Boston and coming to a team with core players in his age range is something I think he really wanted

Johnny, Monahan, Bennett, Brodie, Colborne, Jooris, Shore, Granlund, Backlund, Bouma, Ferland all in that 19-26 age range

You spent years telling us this. Not like it was your opinion, but like you knew what was going to happen like it was a certainty and you were angry we wouldn't give you credit for these imaginary fictitious ramblings.

So excuse us for not taking you the least bit seriously when you come waltzing back in from under your rock speaking to people here like they shouldn't remember your shame induced exile.

i would think 8 years has been enough beauty sleep. also july to november is the saddest cycle to see you play out year after year. you are truly the master of the dog days of hockey.

anyways who won the draft, oilers or flames is arguable.

eat it oilers, stay thirsty my friend.

Welcome back Verve !! So happy to see you back.

Ya, I can understand the optimism for Talbot. Nothing says "we are gonna address goaltending" like throwing a 2nd, 3rd and a 7th at the problem. And getting back up goalies with great numbers is bound to work sooner or later.

Looks good for the Oilers. Maybe contend for playoffs? Division? Multiple cups in the next 5 years?

Can't wait to see how the Oilers manage to #### this up.
