Let's make Dubnyk our back up plan if we can't sign Ramo...

I would be very happy signing Dubnyk, assuming it meant also trading Hiller (doable with salary retained IMO)

Craig Custance @CraigCustance
Talks with Ducks and Matt Beleskey progressing. At this point, I wouldn't expect him to get to July 1.
Slightly disappointing, was looking forward to seeing a team overpay for him. I suppose the Ducks could still.

He's a guy I feared the Flames would jump at, so it's not all disappointing.

That should calm the fears that Burke was going to hire him:
steve simmons @simmonssteve
Expect Dave Nonis to take a senior advisor's position with Anaheim Ducks after July 1. Ducks can't talk to him before then.

It would be awesome if the Flames got Dubnyk and he remained awesome, just to throw it in the Oilers' face.

He's trying to cash in on a big contract with term though right? Probably not in mutual interests with Treliving.

Dubnyk on a 2-3 year deal would be alright especially if we can move Hiller for decent value.
I was hoping the Flames could get Belesky for a Raymond type contract. I think they will take a run at Stewart now

Really what does it matter what you get for Hiller if they trade him? He was a free asset when he signed and everything comes up roses. If it's a 4th round pick, that's a 4th round pick you didn't have yesterday.

I was friends with Devan in high-school (Bowness) and my buddies and I were all bummed out when the Oilers signed him! He was a big Flames fan growing up..
It would be great if we signed him and he performed liked he did in Arizona and Minny!

I'd rather they take their time and get value for the asset personally. Who cares that they got him for free? That makes it even better, helps make up for the sting of losing guys like Cammalleri for nothing. Got all summer to trade him if/when another goalie is brought in. No reason at all to sell him for cents on the dollar.

I'm not interested at all in the Flames signing Dubnyk because of the term he's going to want. IMO he's simply not a proven commodity as one good year isn't enough evidence to show he's going to be that guy for five years. He was okay with the Oilers but he has a penchant for letting in soft goals and it started to creep back into his game at the end of the season and in the playoffs.

Kyle Okposo may be on the trading block.
http://www.newsday.com/sports/hockey...als-1.10564342
Quote:
Kyle Okposo, who is entering the final season of a five-year, $14-million contract, could be on the trading block, according to two league sources outside the Islanders' organization.
The 27-year-old wing has posted the best back-to-back seasons of his career, but Snow might not be interested in ponying up for a long-term deal for Okposo, who missed 22 games after emergency surgery to repair a detached retina in January.
Both sources indicated that nothing appears to be imminent. But with eight teams already committed to at least $63 million on a projected $71-million salary cap for 2015-16, player moves could come fast and furious during draft weekend, and Okposo's extremely modest $2.8-million cap hit could be enticing.
|
Author goes on to speculate that Okposo may look up to $7 million per on a longer term deal after his contract is up and that Islanders may want to get something for him while they can because they cannot afford to keep him.
If anything it should help lower Sharp's trade value.

Simmon, If the Ducks can't talk to him then how is he expected to join them? Do they have some sign language going on?

Would take Okposo in a heartbeat, kind of in that Oshie level of talent and could definitely help our team. Would imagine it would take a great package to get him though, assuming he signs.

6' 220lb RW who is right in his prime at 27? I'd take a run at Okposo if I was Treliving.

I'm sure he's already been chatting up Snow about this - Brad has the pulse on what's happening around the league.
Wonder what kind of return it would take....
