Leddy's cap hit at $5.5million wasn't gonna fit for a #5 D-man on the 'Hawks...

Just the reality of the sal-cap era

Leddy isn't a #5 Dman, he emerged on the Island. Arguably their best Dman all season according to their fans

Johnny...if he had stayed on the 'Hawks, though, he is NOT better, defensively, than DK, Seabs, Hammer, or Oduya.

Don't disagree on most, Oduya though I think is arguable.

Yep, every. single. year. Can't wait to see his contract this summer. And guaranteed there will be lots of Flames fans in various threads this off season campaigning to target Beleskey, saying he's exactly what we need.

Not realizing he'll be this summer's that guy, that everyone looks back at in a year and goes "wow, remember when team X gave that guy $4mil/yr for 4 years and now he's back to being a bottom six forward? I'm glad we missed out on him".

I could see a team like Toronto go after Beleskey. Seems like something they would do.

Give him Clarkson money!

I'd love to see Babcock's facepalm after that.

I enjoy watching the ducks. I like the way they play hockey. I hope they win.

Helps that I randomly bet money on them to win the cup some 3 months ago in a drunken haze.

So it's your fault then they beat the Flames.

Nice going.

What? I think you misunderstood my post. I said I didn't like Kesler... I'd hate to see him win but I like the rest of their team (minus Perry). And if he's going to win, who really cares? All I care is that he won't win in Vancouver.

Beating cab drivers and being an over-the-top showboat shouldn't be rewarded either. Quitting on your team because your GM didn't pick you to play on the best team in the world shouldn't be rewarded. Doesn't matter who wins, someone I hate will win.

Yeah that's true, he wasn't going to get the ice time to flourish in Chicago like he got in New York.

Oduya? Really? I didn't think he was that great from my limited viewings.

I didn't see much of the Eastern teams this year...going off of last year, though, Leddy often turned over the puck in his own end...very much an OFFENSIVE D-Man...no PK time...needed a stay at home partner. Needed to spot his shifts against lower line guys.

Perhaps Leddy will develop his defensive game, but at $5.5million, he just was NOT going to fit under the cap. Oduya was more responsible in the D-end, was better at clearing rebounds, cheaper (at $3.3million), could match up against 1st line opposition, and was safer with the puck in the face of a determined forecheck.

Reports from Chi have Timonen scratched...Rundblad dressed...with Q's trust level for both Rundblad and Cumiskey very low, look for continued heavy minutes for the top 4 with the occasional appearance of the bottom 2 paired with a double shifted top guy.

I just cant see them keeping that up.

I still like the Hawks for this series but they just havent gotten it together. Overall the Ducks have looked better.

It is do or die for the Blackhawks as they are on the brink of elimination. Their season could end on home ice for the second consecutive year.

It is a madhouse at the United Centre, enjoy.

It is scoreless after one period, Ducks have a 10-6 edge in shots.
