He's good at finishing, but not so much at anything else. He had 22 goals and 10 assists this year. As long as someone is feeding him quality passes in the right areas, he'll be fine. If not it'll be a anchor contract.
Because of his age, I wouldn't mind signing him, but only for 3.5 or so mil at the most.

The fact anyone here is okay with the possibility of Ryan Kessler winning the cup is disgusting.
All that diving, whining, and smug arrogance should not be rewarded under any circumstances.

True but you DO need to score goals to win games.
He's been a monster for them this playoff.

Yep. Buyer beware on a bottom 6 player having a career season on his contract year. He would be a solid pickup for any team but only at half the price he's likely going to be looking for in July. I hope the Flames stay far away as they already have plenty of bottom 6 talent in the organization.

I can't remember who said it, but there was a great quote about nothing being more overrated than bottom 6 forwards on Stanley Cup winning teams.
They get paid every summer and flop 95% of the time.

Its funny.
Teams that win the cup tend to develop internal bottom 6 players that come on the cheap but provide added depth.
Other teams then think the key to replicating that teams success is by overpaying for that other teams bottom 6 player.

Yeah, this is a guy with career shooting around 8% who shot 15% this year, and while he has played mostly on the second line, including powerplay, his TOI stats are just a bit higher than their bottom 6 guys.
Big payday coming though.

Belesky's one of the only UFA's I even consider this year, mainly becase of age and positional need. But the pay will be too high for the track record.
I don't mind the Ducks. Kessler is a diver for sure, but nothing compared to Burrows. Perry is aggressive and plays with an edge, and seems to be an SOB besides. you have to respect his results though. And the rest of the team is well put together - good roles for the likes of Cogliano, Maroon, etc. I like their developing defence. Andersen is an OK goalie (he is prone to the odd night like last night but overall he's solid).

Positional need? He's a left shooting, left winger.

He scored some pretty nice goals on the right wing side in both the Calgary and Chicago series. Big guy, awesome speed, good hands, and goes hard in the offensive zone.

I still don't like them and Kessler isn't the only reason as Getzlaf has turned me off with his whining and Perry has turned me off being Perry. That and their curse on the Flames in the Honda center makes it really hard for me to cheer for them.

I feel like the better they do aganst other teams, the better the Flames look.
On another topic, it's interesting to me how many other teams, including good ones, have the same bottom pairing D complaints that the Flames do. Look at the Hawks.

That's mostly because they traded away Nick Leddy before the season started.
Nick Leddy, who was a very good playoff team's #1D this year.

Sure, it's for various reasons, but you hear the same with the Canucks bottom pairing, and a few other teams. It makes me somewhat hopeful.
Leddy would indeed look good on the Hawks instead of, say, Timmonen.
