We almost got a chance to do this with COVINGTON as well. But BC snags him right before we got a chance to. Love the way Huff runs these gives us opportunities to make these types of moves that could pay of big down the road.
Agree on Buckley glad to see him get drafted. Can come to camp learn more. I would not be surprised to see him go back for another year in the CIS as well if the Stamps are looking to develop him as a QB.. They guy can play.

Andrew Buckley was actually practicing with the Stampeders in last year's training camp. He wasn't signed or not getting paid while practicing with the team that's why he dressed for the Dinos. As I recall Huff was very impressed with the guy. I am not sure if he is still eligible to go back to U of C but if he's not, I am sure Stamps will try him as QB but will change his position later on. He is a good runner so I am thinking as RB, WR or safety.

The Alouettes took Brandon Bridge in the draft. If he doesn't find work in the States he might have a genuine shot at being a Canadian QB in the CFL

maybe wideout or DB but no chance at RB, he's soaking 190 lbs. Would get destroyed fast.

I was actually hoping Stamps take a stab at him. What round did he get pick? He is a ratio breaker and played in US college. Oh well... i am pretty happy with Huf's pick anyways.

IIRC for whatever reason a National QB doesn't count towards the ratio.
I think it should as there would be incentive to develop a Canadian QB like Bridge.
As for Buckley, I would be surprised to see him stick as a QB... wasn't he taking pre-med classes too?

He was drafted in the forth round. Unfortunately QBs don't count towards the ratio so if a Canadian QB earns a spot he earns it completely by his own skills. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing. However I would like to see QBs count towards the ratio as maybe that we there can be some more Canadian QBs

Either way, it would be great to see a Canadian QB in the CFL. I believed the last starting QB in the CFL was Greg Vavra of Calgary. He didn't really start a lot of games though. Gerry Datillo was one of the real starter.

Ex-Stampeder safety Eric Fraser was released by Ottawa Redblacks last Thursday.

I guess Redblacks also removed another former Stampeder coach Mike Gibson as an offensive coordinator and replaced him with Jason Maas.

Curious if anyone knows what the Stampeders season ticket base is at. Winning the Grey Cup should provide a small boost. Would love to get back to 31-32000 game average again.

Sucks for Fraser. Always liked the guy. Don't know if he'll ever get another opportunity to start, but I suspect there will be a team willing to give him a veteran back-up spot (injury replacement) if he's open to that.
As for the REDBLACKS cutting Mike Gibson loose, that's very interesting. I seem to recall him being very highly thought of in his brief time with the Stampeders. I don't know that there's room, for him in Calgary, but I doubt he'll be unemployed for long.

I was talking to a guy who works in their marketing department and I think he said the goal for this season was 22,000 (might have been 23,000 - can't exactly remember) and so far (about a month ago) they had sold 19,000 - ahead of what they were hoping for so far.

Not to bad at all for season ticket numbers. I still think a city of our size should have a base of 25000. Really looking forward to this season! Hoping for a good season overall from the whole league as last year was a little meh.

Sounds like its a done deal for the Argos t be sold to MLSE and play out of BMO next season.
Good news for the CFL....as that was quickly becoming a complete embarrassment.

Where have you heard this? Is there an official announcement or is it still speculation?

The league badly needs a relevant team in Toronto. They don't need to be Leafs popular but in a smaller stadium be a success on the lines of the Als where they get a good turnout and have a fan base. As of today do they even really have a dedicated fan base?

I don't want to get into the politics of a new stadium but McMahon is soon to be the worst facility in the CFL. This team needs to work extra hard to sell their product due to the facilities being terrible. Anything over 28k and McMahon is a total gong show in the concourse and washrooms.
