Does it?

The restriction on coaches asking for measurements is much needed. Coaches basically get a free timeout anytime the ball is within a yard of the first down. It will help the game flow much better

Those rules pretty much eliminate the fake convert attempt to try and get two points instead. Also, the line up as to attempt a 2 point convert, and pull a fake, and instead kick a single point convert play (that will never happen, but technically legal) will be impossible too.
Sure, converts aren't often missed, but The stamps had a critical 3 point swing in points In The sask playoff game a couple years back on the blocked convert returned for two points.
I don't think I'm a fan of the 3 point convert option.

dont mind this...
To increase the tempo of the game, the Rules Committee suggests that at any time in the game the offence be allowed to signal to the Referee that it doesn't want to substitute and it wants to use a tempo offence.
The officials would then blow the play in immediately upon the ball and yardsticks being set for play.
This new protocol will be combined with a rule change made last year - which meant the offence no longer had to wait for the defense to substitute before initiating a play if the offence had not substituted.
Together, the changes create an opportunity for the offence to dictate the pace of the game.

Converts will happen from the 32, 2 point converts from the 3 and the NFL 5 yards of contact for DBs has been adopted to eliminate contact down the field and make the game even more slanted towards the offense

Not sure if I like most (any?) of these. These areas aren't what is wrong with the rules

Boo.
Was there something wrong with the CFL product in 2014? I would have been open to testing some of the changes in the preseason, but a wholesale adoption seems a like kneejerk reaction to... well, nothing.
I can envision a situation where a team down by 7 drives the ball down the field in the final minute for the game tying score... only to see the kicker miss the PAT. Is that supposed to be more entertaining?

Do converts like Rugby - straight out from where the ball was touched down.

I wonder if teams can still drop kick the convert. Line up for 2 and drop kick it for the single point

I like it. the single point is a gimme, why do we even have that? make it worth something by pushing it back so it's not automatic all the time.

I like most of the rule changes. Will speed up and open the game. The convert will be the most interesting. I would still remove the PI challenge.

The convert rule modification is a pretty radical change without testing it out first, but it should make the games more exciting.

Stamps get a great deal with Durant at the 18th pick.

I think the Stamps stole two good players already in this draft. OL Lavoie dropped his stock because he was injured during the Combine. He's been an All-Star in the past two seasons at Laval.
WR Lemar Durant of Simon Fraser, the fastest receiver in the Combine was rated high but for some reason his stock dropped. Getting him as the 18th pick was awesome. He'll definitely fit in with the rest of receivers. He is tall, fast and can catch the ball.
Just loving Huf's pick so far.

Yup, Farhan Lalji was raving about that pick. Also, they might have a replacement down the road for Jon Cornish by selecting Tyler Varga with the pick after Durant.

Stamps getting Durant and Vargas? If Varga doesn't get a look down south then I think they won this draft hands down

Good night for Huff and the Stampeders crew. Here's the list of Stampeders pick tonight.
1. Karl Lavoie-OL Laval (9th): His stock dropped because he missed the CFL Combine due to injury. He was an All-Star in 2013 & 2014. Laval is usually well known for their tough OLine.
2. Lemar Durant-WR Simon Fraser (18th) : One of the fastest in the CFL Draft. He is tall 6'2" and can catch the ball. He is a deep threat receiver. He was rated one of the top player in this draft early this month. Not sure why his stock dropped. Good steal for Stamps. We needed a Canadian receivers as we only have Parker, Campeau, Arthur.
3. Tyler Varga-RB Yale(19th) : NFL predicted him as best as backup RB and good special team player in the NFL. Not too flashy but he is a very effective runner. He is probably much suited for the CFL than the NFL.
3. Tevaughn Campbell-DB Regina(22nd) : Turned heads on the CFL Combine. He beat his personal best in 40-yard dash with 4.355. He attracted about 8 NFL teams after watching the CFL Combine. Good cover guy with speed. He'll be a good replacement for Keenan McDougall who signed with the Riders in the off-season.
3. William Langlais-RB Sherbrooke(27th) : Did not have an impressive season but he is potential FB for the Stamps. He is 6'3" who can run and he's an explosive runner.
5. Dexter Janke-DB/KR/PR Okanagan Sun(44th) : This guy is fast and a good returner. He can also block on special team and a good cover guy on defense. I think he will be a good safety for the Stamps in the future. He'll need about 3 years to develop as a CFL guy. Good late pick and project.
6. Aaron Picton-OL Regina(53rd) : 6'4" and he is quick. He is a project and might be a good backup OLine. But the way Stamps develop their players, he might turn out to be a good pick.
7. Andrew Buckley-QB Calgary(62nd) : Good QB for the Dinos. Problem is CFL doesn't usually give Canadian QB who played in CIS a lot of chance to let them play QB in the CFL. Stamps did with Sinopli but he was converted to WR after a few years. Is Buckley getting a chance to be a QB or he is going to be converted to be receiver or DB? I love the gamble though because this guy is good.

Reason: Added Buckley on the list.

My NFL team (Colts) signed him around 10 days ago. He will be in training camp in Indy starting May 18th.
