You can get a pretty decent platter at Jalapeno's on 4th Ave (between 7 and 8 street.)

The Coffee definitely beats Tim Hortons, and the odd McFlurry isn't bad either. The burgers/wraps etc. really could use an upgrade though.

Buchanans, that is a special burger, IMO, but I haven't had one in far too long.

Clive is just okay. It ain't Naina's, that's for sure. Lava Dining had the best burger, RIP. Best fries are at NoTable.
For me, I absolutely want to spend double on better burgers, fries, etc. If you're going to eat something bad for you, it should be worth the caloric indulgence imo.

I must be polar opposite of most people here because the reason I go to mcdonalds is because I know exactly what I'm getting. Now that I have kids they like the happy meal crap so about half the time we settle on McDonald's. I don't minds those signature mcwrap things, they don't make you feel like a pile of poo after.
Yes they are expensive but almost everybody is it seems for what you get.

My favourite fast food place is Panda Express. It's like Manchu Wok but fresher and more value. It can also be somewhat healthy too depending on what you order. Sadly there isn't one in Calgary. Almost all locations are in the southern states. Only a couple locations in Ontario and Edmonton but not here. No idea why they're in Edmonton and not Calgary

I love Panada Express.
They have locations every where in the states. I've eaten it everywhere I've been (I make an effort too).

The older I get, the more McD's is like eating a box of ex-lax.

It's weird, I never have a craving for McDonald's anymore unless I'm hung over. Then I NEED it, it's become part of my Holy Hangover routine.
I've noticed the price jump too (frankly all the big name fast food chains have done it). But if you just pick off the value menu, you can keep er cheap. I'm not a big man, but a couple cheeseburgers or junior chickens and a small fry usually fills me up. Only about $5.
It's the B side of McDonald's later on that I have a problem with...

It could be more like the service at DQ...
After our last visit to DQ (I was craving a blizzard and feeling lazy so we went for dinner,) my husband asked the manager on duty if they only hired people who got fired from McDonald's.... it was that bad. At least a 15 minute wait for a smushed burger coated in mustard. Gross.
But really, Wendy's is the cat's pyjamas when it comes to fast food. They seem to have the freshest ingredients, the greasiest burgers and they've upped their fry game substantially. They aren't McDonald's fries but I think I like them better now.

The only time I go to McDonalds is to grab a grilled Tuscan Salad when in a pinch. Put about 1/6th of the dressing pack, plus sunflower seeds and cranberries on it, and it's surprisingly good.

I'm not going to pretend I need to be drunk or hungover to enjoy a ten pieces of McNuggets with BBQ sauce. That ####s good. Real good.
