Just finishing watching game 6 against the Canadiens in 89 on sportsnet. Hopefully it's good luck. These little pop ups on NHL classics are pretty annoying. I don't care that Eric Desjardins went by the nick name Rico. Also, while the play was obviously full of things that are penalties now (and an insane amount of running over Vernon) but it's odd to note how much less went on after whistles. Not even as much grouping up, but no face washes, little cross checks, pushing or shoving. Whistle goes and they seem to be ready to move on to the next puck drop.
I watched that replay as well - Hopefully, it's a good omen for the Flames and I had forgotten how much I loathe Claude Lemieux.

That might have to do with it being late in the SCF, granted I haven't watched many SCFs lately but you'd think they just lose the energy for the BS after the whistle.
I watched game 7 of the 86 series vs Edmonton this past Thursday... with the Steve Smith famous own-goal. The thing that surprised me was that both goalies were really, really "unrefined" compared to goalies today, but still managed to look amazing. They would come out of the net and just throw themselves in front of shooters. Acrobatic saves with their pads on point blank shots. And they were pros at it, this is the way they played goalie back then.

If the Flames have this same "just happy to have beaten the Canucks" attitude they are sunk.
To believe they would is so ridiculous it's not even worth mentioning.
You can't seriously think there's even a 1% chance that the Flames preparation for this series included the thought "We're not supposed to be here, beating Vancouver was incredible, so don't feel too bad if we can't compete this round. It's been a great year".

Yes I do. Why not? They are human. And human nature allows for periods of satisfaction.
Because in a lot of interviews the players have outright said that they are where they are but they're still not satisfied?
While I'm sure they're not going to be too disappointed with the season if this is the end of the road, I don't believe for one second that a single player on this team is thinking "Hey, this is good enough here". That kind of attitude is not what has got this team where it is. That kind of thinking is good enough for about 62 points in the season and McDavid.

Anyone know if one can stream the game on a laptop (not a Rogers customer)?
Right from nhl.com gamecentre. Same tging but don't need to be a Rogers customer. You can pay for the rest of playoffs or a day pass. Otherwise your going to have to use ####ty sites. You can p.m me if nhl.com is out of the question.
I complained in the GDT for Game 1 about having to watch a crappy illegal free stream because the game was not being carried on CBC. (And it truly was an awful, AWFUL stream...Ugh). At some time before the beginning of the game a CP poster PMed me and offered to let me use his Sportsnet subscription in order to watch the game tomorrow AM.
This is one the best things about CP. It's a great community of common minded people—many of whom are genuinely interested in helping people.
So, thanks, to my anonymous donor for the gift of HD hockey in a land without Centre Ice. I'll be up in a few hours. It's going to be a hell of a game!
GFG.
That generosity alone deserves a Flames win tonight!
