First Micheal Ferland walks into the bathroom in full uniform then he video bombs Sam Bennett. I like this guy already.

Raphael Diaz and Mark Giordano both skating with today’s game-day group.
Here's how I read it: is Gio in any danger at practice? No, the risk is gone but the strength isn't there so he can't really be effective. He didn't skate for 2 months and didn't shoot at all for longer. Gonna be a while I'd think

Wes Gilbertson @SUNGilbertson
For what it's worth, no extended skate for #Flames LW David Wolf today. He's the obvious replacement if LW Micheal Ferland isn't available.

I can't disagree with this, but the fact that he's skating in a full practice again is really good news. I would not be shocked to see him back in 2 weeks time, although 4 weeks would be more likely, meaning he wouldn't be back until late 3rd round or the Cup Final, IF we made it that far (which is unlikely). However, he seems to be progressing really well, so we shouldn't rule out his return as a possibility. Even if he isn't full strength offensively with his shot, his defense, work ethic, and leadership would do wonders for this team right now.

All that being said, I don't want him to play unless he's at least 90%.

Scoring first is key in my opinion. If the Flames come out tentative and get down a couple of goals early, then I fear we'll have a repeat of game 1. But if they can get that first goal and build some momentum, they'll have a chance to earn the split. They can't match the Ducks physically, so they're gonna need to use their strengths, which is speed, a relentless forecheck, quick breakouts, and scoring off the rush.

It's fine if he can't really shoot, but that means they can shift their coverage elsewhere. It also likely means that he's too weak for meaningful board battles. That would be a pretty big liability

#Flames D Raphael Diaz just left the ice in Anaheim. You don't skate for an hour and 10 minutes in the morning if you're in the lineup.

Nope. But if you're practicing with the main group, and then getting bag-skated, you're likely very close. Possibly next game.

Has anyone been to the lounge/restaurant at the main entrance of Honda Center? I'll be at JT Schmid's again, but I was just curious. Perhaps for game 5?

3-1 Calgary.

Here we go boys! Johnny with a pair, Monahan with 1.

Flames stay out of the box, and get the PP going. I can feel it, Calgary is not rolling over....

I smell flashbacks to his OT winner against LA. That was great

Off to bed.

But first, a story.

I complained in the GDT for Game 1 about having to watch a crappy illegal free stream because the game was not being carried on CBC. (And it truly was an awful, AWFUL stream...Ugh). At some time before the beginning of the game a CP poster PMed me and offered to let me use his Sportsnet subscription in order to watch the game tomorrow AM.

This is one the best things about CP. It's a great community of common minded people—many of whom are genuinely interested in helping people.

So, thanks, to my anonymous donor for the gift of HD hockey in a land without Centre Ice. I'll be up in a few hours. It's going to be a hell of a game!

GFG.

Saw They Might Be Giants at the Anaheim House of Blues last night, and the first song they played was Can't Keep Johnny Down.

I take that as a sign that it's time for another big night in Southern California for Gaudreau.

Just finishing watching game 6 against the Canadiens in 89 on sportsnet. Hopefully it's good luck. These little pop ups on NHL classics are pretty annoying. I don't care that Eric Desjardins went by the nick name Rico. Also, while the play was obviously full of things that are penalties now (and an insane amount of running over Vernon) but it's odd to note how much less went on after whistles. Not even as much grouping up, but no face washes, little cross checks, pushing or shoving. Whistle goes and they seem to be ready to move on to the next puck drop.
