Loved Hartley's reaction in the presser. He didn't looked pleased nor did he look rattled. He will bring the boys ready for game 2!

Wolf, Poirer, miraculous recovery by Bouma and Gio and Ferland/Hudler were just precautionary actions.

I normally don't complain too much about the broadcast......but why in the hell are Rick Ball and Kelly Hrudey sitting on the sidelines while Romanuk and Johnson are still calling games??
Like seriously.....WTF?
Also, nice to see we get the C team for the panel portion as well.
Yikes.

Not really surprised with the result. Ducks were going to be flying after the rest they had. They seemed to let off the gas after 3 or 4 goals and still kept scoring which should be concerning.
I do expect a closer game 2 though.

Ball and Hrudey are regional now. Romanuk and Johnston are national. Thats it.

The loss happened. Not worried.
I just hope Ferland is okay.

His wife got a excellent Job in her field in Europe. He choose to go with her. He was fine before that. Like Wideman I'll give him another year to redeem himself.
Also I hate Gary Thorne. Never liked him either.

It's frustrating as a producer to watch. I'd be livid.

Yup, Sportsnet has the anti-Midas touch. Everything about their broadcast is inferior to whatever the alternative is. (Except maybe that American broadcasts love to show a huge ticker on the bottom, and even shrink the existing feed to do so sometimes).
Anyways, this is an older example but still 100% accurate:
The TSN Jets broadcast of a game vs the Flames Sportsnet. Obviously its the exact same camera source.
The TSN feed is brighter, more vivid, and sharper. How is this an issue still?
Another comparison, this time between Sportsnet and the Predators regional FSN feed:

Everyone's talking about Gaudreau not getting any shifts in the third. No one's talking about Monahan not getting any shifts in the third period.
Edit: looks like Monhan had about 3 minutes in the third period, really only two shifts of any length.

Just horrendous goaltending by Hiller and Ramo, no compete from either of them, no idea who Bob trusts to go in net in game 2. Move on and get the next one...

I guess I'm saying some of the Flames who aren't that type just need to be that type.

If I'm looking for positives
-Their goaltending was better than ours tonight. That's not necessarily going to be the case next game
-5v5 the game actually stacked up reasonably even the end
-our PK can be much better
-that was not flames hockey. They didn't block more shots than Anaheim 5v5. That's gotta be remedied

Wow! That's the ugliest playoff game I've seen in a long time. Are the Ducks really that much better than the Flames? I don't think so, but...
Ugly, ugly ugly.
Bring on game 2. It's got to be better than this doesn't it?

Yeah, because the Flames really brought their 'A' game tonight.
C'mon man.

Watching the highlights most of the goals against us were from simply bad defensive coverage. The Flames were puck watching big time. If they want to win they have to play their game; fast passes, drive the net, use speed to outskate the opponent. Flames played right into the Ducks hand, next game they should play like the Canucks did in game 2 where they didn't let the physical part get to them and ignored our checking, they beat us 4-1 when they did that. It's our best chance, just skate like the wind and don't try to bully the Ducks around, it won't work.

I think Hiller's getting a raw deal. He really didn't have much of a chance on any of the goals, just wide open Ducks in front of the net. Pretty tough to stop those.

Yup. Defensive coverage on those goals are to blame. Nothing in the Flames game tonight was good for any means and you can't put this loss to goaltending. It's the overall effort that was lackluster.
