I'm ok with this. If we lose badly in this series we will know what it takes to win the Cup. Anaheim has true size where they can kill offensive cycles by leaning into people and they can cause turnovers by crashing behind the net. They are just too big to deal with right now. Calgary wins with tenacity, Anaheim can save their tenacity until they need it and wins with size.

The better team clearly won tonight. The Flames looked slow, weak, and just not playing their game. That being said adjustments are going to need to be made, as the Ducks are just to big for the Flames to manhandle like they did the Canucks.

Oh well poopy loss, but as has been pointed out, game 1. Not the end of the world. Regroup, get a game plan and send those ducks back to the Gordon Bombay Hockey School.

The Flames can get a 1-0 win on Sunday and the series will be tied.

Learn from this and move on.

Just another obstacle that the Flames will overcome. Just another reason for the hockey world to doubt this team. I'm fully confident that the Flames will bounce back.

It's only the first game of the series. I expect the Flames to come back on Sunday with a better performance.

Well it definitely couldn't be much worse. That was an ass-kicking from start to finish.

Ummm, so who we start next game? Both goalies were not good though defence was just as bad.

As bad as the final score is, it means nothing if Calgary can steal the next one. Ferland and Hudler injuries could be crippling though. This will be an anxious next couple of days...

Bring on game 2!

Yup. Just one game. I'm not sure what I would do as coach, but I imagine Bob will devise a master plan and the boys will shock the Ducks next game . The big question for me is which goalie do we start? I would like to give Ramo a fair shot. Then if we're missing Hudler and Ferland, who enters next game?

I posted in the GT that at least the Flames are learning what it take to be a contender. This experience is invaluable and I agree that they will be better in Game 2.

That was VS the Habs actually.

If Hudler/Ferland are out, we may as well pack it in. Sucks to lose this game, but the injuries are much worse than the result on the score sheet. Boys need to regroup, but we definitely need a change in the game plan. The physical game is not going to win this series like it did against the Canucks.

The hardest part will be dealing with their dump ins, that's how they hurt us big time. They dump it in, our d chase the puck and their forwards steamroll over them repeatedly. How do you counter that?

That was a rough one. Regroup, adjust, and hopefully come out looking a little less shell-shocked, and a little more like the team we know on Sunday. Also, hope Hudler and Ferland are OK. Those would be big losses.
