Doesn't sound like it.

29. Things did not work out for Cody Franson in Nashville. He was a good fit in Toronto, both on and off the ice. Could a reunion be in the works? (Will have more on the Predators next time.)

the Jets wanted either monahan or Bennett as part of the Kane trade... and Malkin is a proven commodity, unlike Evander "1%" Kane...

Everyone is replaceable. If you are offered Malkin, the correct answer is "what price". If you answer "No thanks, I like my youth" then you are not doing your job.
I remember 4-5 years back, I made a thread asking who you would trade Iginla for straight up. The general sentiment of this board was "I wouldnt trade Jarome for anyone! I love Jarome and hope he plays his entire career here!" Some wouldn't even trade Jarome straight up for Crosby, let alone Toews or Kane.
Management needs to be detached from the players. Else, you get a situation like Holmgren-Bryzgalov or Wang-Dipietro.

Didn't Poille come out and basically say he regretted making that trade?

That's the one I thought of too, though other biases would probably come into play as well like Choice-supportive bias (if the player was acquired by the current GM), Sunk cost effect, IKEA effect, Status quo bias, etc

Yeah he said that it wasn't a good fit especially considering how deep Nashville was already on D with right hand shots (Weber, Jones, Ellis) and that the organization preferred Left-Right d-pairings.

The last few things I have seen indicate that he will be gone from Nashville. Didn't seem to be a good fit there. I don't really know either way just want the Flames to focus on younger solid D men, the more stay at home physical type but with good wheels. We have the puck movers.

If Malkin is moved, the Panthers would be a good fit. They have to be getting frustrated with the perpetual rebuild, and have a lot of nice young pieces. And Russians tend to be happy to play in Florida.

I think the Blues make more sense. If I was Florida I would just be patient. They got some nice pieces and should just continue on the path they have been. I can understand the thinking to rush things given their lack of success recently but rushings things never seems to really pan out in the end.

Main reason I don't think the Flsmes should consider it is the cap structure. We can do it next year but then Gio, Monahan, Gaudreau, Russell all need extensions

Good fit IMO. At worst he'd be a Russian David Jones with more skill. Guy likes to work hard from all accounts and is a great forechecker. Some silky mitts too.
Hopefully Trelivings history with him in ARZ gives the Flames a leg up.
I don't think he takes a roster spot away from anyone as it's all about earning it. You can never have enough big natural RW's on the roster IMO.

Wow some tough comments on Mantha by Wings management. Maybe not as untouchable as once thought?
http://www.foxsports.com/detroit/sto...-future-050415
Quote:
The defense looks strong, with several players coming. But up front most of the franchise's best prospects are already in Detroit. And one player, former No. 1 pick Anthony Mantha, has not come close to meeting expectations.
"Very, very, very disappointing," said Wings Senior Vice President Jim Devellano, who saw the Griffins play their final three games, including Sunday's 3-1 win, over the Toronto Marlies. "And I say that with a lot of sadness. Coming out of junior, we had such high hopes for him."
|
Article also implying that the wings are souring on Ryan Sproul.

Seems like an odd thing to say. I can understand maybe trying to motivate him but I don't think that is the way. Little premature.
