I wonder if Paille and Campbell said the same thing back to Chiarelli.

I'd take Campbell on this team. Heart and Soul guy, plays hard every shift. Although, with the emergence of Bouma this year he may not have a place after all.

The only place the Nucks will be going after Lucic is on the ice while swinging their sticks. He has absolutely no desire to be in Vancouver, and the Nuck fanbase has close to no desire to have him.

No way Lucic goes to Van, especially with how is his family's church got vandalized by Canuck fans and the statement Lucic released afterwards. But I could definitely see Edmonton going after him. In fact, I think he is their #1 target this summer.

Adam Proteau @Proteautype
Spoke to NHL agent who wonders if this could happen: Leafs & Oilers swap No. 3 & 4 picks, Phaneuf goes to Edmonton, Leafs eat some money.

Friedman speculating Malkin could be on the move
Quote:
“There are teams that could pull it off. I’m looking at a Florida, a Nashville, a team with young assets that could do this. I’m not saying if you’re the Penguins you should do it 100 per cent, but I’m saying you really have to sit down and think about it.”
Friedman adds that even the Calgary Flames could be in a position to trade for Malkin if in fact both sides were so inclined.
|
Bad timing with all the positive vibes from the playoffs but interesting speculation. What would it take?
Bennett + 1st rounder?
Would you pay that price?

Not interested in Malkin at all. 30 with an injury history and would cost Bennett most likely. Zero interest in trades involving Monahan, Gaudreau, or Bennett (add Brodie to that list)

For the record I agree would not include any of Bennett, Gaudreau, Monahan or Brodie but you would need 1 of those plus the first to even get the conversation started. I too am in the pass category

Malkin is turning 29 this year in July. Not far from 30, but it's not like he's over the hill just yet. Having said that, no way would I trade Bennett for him. Bennett has years on an entry level deal and subsequent contract. Malkin has what... 4-5 more years of productivity at a high price? Plus we're not hurting at C anymore. If this were 3-4 years ago and Iggy was still around, I'd make a trade for Malkin for sure.

3-4 years ago we would have had nothing to even get the conversation started for Malkin.

The Preds make sense for Malklin. They would then have an elite center, Dman, and goalie in their primes.
The Blues could put together a veteran package as well.

Big pass. Still a great player but no sense trading away some of our good youth to bring in a player that might mess up the chemistry of the team with a big ticket.

I could see the Blues paying the price for Malkin. They have the pieces and maybe this latest early playoff exit is what Armstrong will use to justify moving a few key pieces for one of the best players in the league when healthy.
