Loved all the white knighting going on in this thread over Alex Burrows.
I myself wish he would suit up so the Flames could target that rib.
See you later Alex, karma is a beeeeeatch.

Bieksa's as good a candidate as any since it was probably a defenceman.

Burrows just found out that A&W has $3 Teens and got way too excited. However, what he didn't realize is that they were hamburgers.
He'll be fine.
For Weekend Update I'm TBQH.

Yeah about 6 or 7 years ago I slipped on the ice at the arena and broke 1 rib, separated another and almost punctured my lung....ended up with a pulmonary hematoma as well.
As others have mentioned (depending on severity) it is debilitating pain and can be quite dangerous. I started coughing up blood which exasperated the pain of the rib etc etc...it was beyond brutal for 10 days or so.
So those making fun of the guy, you should really take a step back and give the old melon a shake. This is likely to see him out for sometime.

People weren't defending the character, but the human being. Nothing wrong with practical empathy and compassion.
Hearing that a guy was taken to an ambulance on a stretcher and rushed to the hospital is jarring, and often indicates the worst. The reaction was pretty standard fare, and refreshing to see. Glad that it wasn't near as serious as I first imagined, but I also have to admit I'm a bit relieved and satisfied Burrows won't be back for this series.

Is it really jarring? I was completely unjarred.
I wished way worse on him for his 'fight' with Russell. I dont take that back.
He is a ######. If he wasnt a nhler he would be a crooked accountant or something.

Cheap shot merchant? Diver maybe, but hes not known for cheap shots. I dont even think he dives that much. The guy has an unearned reputation. If he was an anglophone I wonder if he would be so reviled.

There is a lot of reasons Burrows is hated but "not being an anglophone" is hardly one of them that is ridiculous.
