What can you say about this kid that hasn't already been said. So proud of what he's accomplished in the last 2 years. His career could of gone either way after his surgery, but he just seems to have that drive to get better.
When Bouma went down I had penciled Ferland into his spot. I never thought he'd step up quite this much though. I'm confident he'll improve much like Bouma has and end up becoming even more offensive than Bouma is now.
He's got all the tools to succeed and seems to be a great character. I'm willing to bet Mcgrattan played a big mentoring role while down in Adirondack this year. Having dealt with similar substance abuse earlier in his career, I'm sure he shared some stories and gave Ferland some words of encouragement.
Is Ferland officially the 2015 Chris Simon? Or is he a combination of Chris Simon and Dennis Gautier?

Hate to be the one to get ahead of anything but I can't help but imagining Ferland against Perry, I think the "heavy" advantage Anaheim had on us is shrinking.
Except Perry is basically Bieksa in that regard. He will hit you dirty, but unless he has an advantage, he won't take you face to face.
I told my buddy when we were watching the game last night to look out specifically for Ferland, #79. He sure didn't disappoint. What a dynamic he adds to the team. And from a rookie. Unbelievable how everything just seemed to come together for the Flames this year....in the 2nd year of a rebuild. I don't give a crap if the Oilers get 10 McDavids. I'll take playoff intensity like this over a ''stud'' #1 pick.

What will be even better is when Bouma comes back and now we have two of them. Bouma's injury is a huge blessing in disguise, now we just need him back.
