Apparently his mom is a Sedin fan

Scott Cruickshank @CruickshankCH
#Flames Michael Ferland: "My mom doesn’t want me hitting those two guys, but it’s my job.” What did your mom say? “Leave the Sedins alone."

Randy Sportak @SUNRandySportak
#Flames Michael Ferland’s mom told him not to hit the Sedins.
“She told me, 'Leave the Sedins alone.' She loves them,” he said.

He's sort-of filling the role Chris Simon played in our last classic playoff run. 10-15 goals is definitely achievable, tough as nails and can keep up with the play.

Exactly, that was such a cheap shot by Bieksa. I am looking forward to the next game to see how many times Ferland hits Bieksa.

He hits everything yet is still not behind the play or caught out of position. And he hits hard.

And mean.

Quickly becoming my favorite player. We've needed somebody to cause turnovers based on fear for years. That's such a valuable element, the entire Canucks team is scared of one player. Awesome

Previously we were concerned about who would balance out the small wingers in Gaudreau, Hudler and potentially Baertschi. Not so bad now with what Colborne and Ferland have shown so far. These kids have taken it to the next gear. Add Bouma and teams will hate leaving games black and blue after playing the Flames.

Man this hit was huge, set the tone for the game as much as Bieksa would say that it did not. Ferly is awesome!!!

Move over Braden Holtby.

Michael Ferland is my new favorite former Saskatoon Blade.

I love this guy so much now.

Was never a big believer in Ferland, didn't get the hype, didn't think much of him as a prospect. When he was sent back to junior as an overager I pretty much wrote him off.

What a player he is now. His speed continues to impress, his hard and hits mean. Brings a passion you want to have in a guy that size. Has a dimension that few guys have.

If Bouma is back soon it will be a killer back-to-back shift for the opposing team.
