I did my part to help the Flames by loading up on canucks in my playoff auction last night. And the ones I didn't 'win' I bid up on other fools. Expect poor series from D Sedin, Vrbata, and Burrows!

I've done this the last few times the canucks have been in the playoffs, and the results speak for themselves!

The Flames opened at 100:1 to win the Cup at Caesars: http://imgur.com/Qxo1AAM (from here: http://forum.calgarypuck.com/showthread.php?t=141840)

By the end of November, they were already down (or is it up?) to 60:1.

Nashville also opened at 100:1. On the other end of the spectrum: Boston at 7:1, LA at 10:1, and San Jose at 12:1.

Well too bad for you cuz I got about 4 Canucks and I tend to do well in these pools.

My deep love for the Flames does not trump my deep hatred for riots

This is a pretty even series. My concern for the Flames is the depth available, especially on defence. With Giordano in the lineup I think it's more clearly in the Flames favour, but without him, I think there's a slight edge to Vancouver.

Canucks in 7.

That's offensive to people in poor nations that don't have regular access to running water and soap.

I was running late this morning and had to forgo a shower, and I am now a little ripe. So I really take offense the the stinkin part. Use the correct terminology please. "Aromatically challenged."

Also, my apologies to fruit for using the term 'ripe'. I only meant it as a euphimism. I am in no way suggesting you smell like my armpit. It is an insult to me, not to fruit. I am also in no way suggesting fruit is of lesser value than humans. I won't be insulted if you say "That Apple smells like BO." I'm okay with it.

Look, I'm offended at the use of poor nations, the correct term is financial disadvantaged nations. Poor is a term that you use when you pity something, look at that poor ####### for example.

Bahahahahaahahaha this was posted on HF

I cannot wait to see Horvat turn it on, as we drafted the ox based on his second gear. Likewise, I hope to see Baertschi vs Bennett, as those two has a lot to prove. Bennett towards flames management, and Baertschi towards the same management also for almost ruining his career.
HF is no good.

Be well John Spartan. Care to join me for a rat burger later in the sewers while the rest of the top side dwellers dine at taco bell while singing the hit song "Oscar Meyer Weiner"?

Apologies if the word weiner offends.

Canuck fan's think Horvat is better than Monahan.

They're so delusional.

But but Monahan gets top line minutes fed to him on a platter! Horvat is buried behind Sedin and....../looks for roster sheet......Nick Bonino.....

Surely Horvat would produce and be just as good with the same amount of ice time!

Just so that everyone is aware (I posted this in the WHL thread on the other sub-forum), Game 5 of the Hitmen/Tigers is a 6:00 on Friday, to be followed by a broadcast of Game 2 of the Flames and Canucks on the jumbotron. Thought it was a cool idea, so am going.

I imagine the concessions will be open.

Might be an alternative to watching from home, going to a bar, or heading out with fellow CPers on a plane to Vancouver.

I wonder how cringe-worthy Jim Hughson is going to be.

Remember this classic call? Listen how long it takes him to realize LA scored. Generally if one team is cheering and celebrating together, it means they scored. Especially when the home crowd is booing for some reason.

I like Horvat, I think he's going to be a solid NHL player, but I also think that's all he's going to be, a good reliable third line guy that can move to the second line. But his offensive abilities are so far behind Monahan that its like a caveman trying to fight an astronaut.

Trying to claim the underdog ground is really about deflecting pressure: hey, they're the favourites, the pressure is all on them.

That doesn't really fly here, regardless of who the favourite is.

The Canucks are led almost entirely by players that are over 30 or well over 30. They have been to the playoffs with this core multiple times and time is running out for them.

No matter how anyone tries to spin it, the pressure is on this core.

Conversely, this season is all found money for the Flames and their mostly very young core. Any and all success in the playoffs is a bonus.

Do the Flames want to win and are they here to win? Absolutely. But the pressure is all on Vancouver.

I get what you are saying, but that is a crappy metaphor.

This is some poor trash talk, it's not even witty:

http://vansunsportsblogs.com/2015/04...lames-are-bad/

Quote:
But the Calgary Flames? They’re bad.

I know what you’re thinking. They’re a great story. They were supposed to play blogger hockey, spending most of their time in the basement. Instead, here they are in the playoffs. How great is that?

Not great. Not great at all. The Flames are bad. Like the flames that burned down Vancouver in June of 1886, or the flames that nearly burned down Vancouver in June of 2011. Just bad.

Johnny Hockey? Great nickname. But he’s bad. Mark Giordano? Bad.

If you’re still thinking highly of flames, it better not be the Calgary Flames. They’re bad. Mind you – not all flames are bad. Not even all Flames sports teams. There’s the Guildford Flames out of England, and the Westchester Flames F.C. play a mean game of soccer, I hear. The Florida Flame were affiliated the Boston Celtics before their lack of home arena forced them to shut down.
