These are absolutely HORRENDOUS signings. You don't sign a 4th liner for four years and Sbisa is a 6th defenseman and not worth half of that AAV.
This is Maple Leafs level incompetence.

Linden and Benning love Dorsett, Linden raves about him. Not surprised at all he signed long term. Tolerable contract.
Sibsa and his contract are terrible. I think it shows that the can####s have nothing in the pipe for defencemen.

Sbisa was a GlenX style fan favourite with Canucks fans. They are pissed as #### about this contract, haha. Brilliant.

That Sbisa deal is terrible!
The guy is a turnover machine. Rumor has it that Benning see's him as a replacement for Bieksa. If he improves to Bieksa's level then $3.6 mil is alright, but right now that's just horrible asset management by Benning.
Unless this is the prelude to a sign-and-trade.
The Dorsett contract isn't too bad though. That's similar to Steve Ott money. A bit high for a winger in that mold of player, but only by around $650-750k. I'm sure most Nuckleheads would have preferred 3 years instead of 4.

Ya that's pretty much what I though, Dorsett setting the market for Bouma.

I live in VAN, so I see the Canucks a lot, go to live games a fair amount... most in here are under-rating the season Dorsett has had... I can't stand the guy, but he's had a SOLID year... he fights, hits, and is trusted defensively... he's solid on the forecheck... even pots the odd goal... I'm disappointed in this signing because its good value for the hated Canucks.

He plays a heavier game for a guy his size, not a liability that's for sure and I'd say he's about half a mill a year overpaid but he brings true grit which the Canucks lack abundance of. Not as terrible of a signing as some are making it out to be, I already stated how Bouma was going to most likely be slightly north of 3 mill per and this all but confirms that. With the cap increasing and sitting where it currently sits players of this ilk used to make 1.5ish now they make 2.5ish, nothing shocking. Sbisa on the other hand makes Engs contract look stellar!

He's 28 and a fourth liner. You do not sign those guys to extended term. They fall off the map. Even for one year this is overpayment. For FOUR?
This year, Dorsett is:
-Last on Vancouver in shots for % at 42.7%
-Third last on Vancouver in shots against per 60 (so much for being defensively sound)
-Last on Vancouver in shots for per 60
-Last on Vancouver in Corsi at 42.7% (the worst Oiler is 43.8%)
-On-ice shooting percentage of 8.9% (unsustainable; previous 3 years he averaged 6.4%)
-Literally every player he plays with has better possession stats without him on the ice than with him on the ice.
The Sbisa deal is even WORSE somehow - there is only one regular defenseman in the NHL this year whose goals against per 60 is worse; Oscar Klefbom. And Klefbom's on ice save percentage is .879, so it's really his goaltenders' fault more than his. Sbisa's is .904. He cannot play defense - I noted above that Dorsett is third last on the team in shots against per 60 minutes. Sbisa is below him.
Now take into account that Sbisa got 700k more than Deryk Engelland - which was in the discussion for last year's worst UFA contract, sad to say - on the same term.
Now take into account that Sbisa is a RFA.
Jim Benning is literally a ######. There's no other explanation, he must actually have brain damage. Combined, these two contracts are basically the Canucks' version of David Clarkson.

Canuck fans are pissed about the Sbisa deal. He was an RFA and somehow got a raise + a 3 year contract. BRUTAL lol
