Is that because you legitimately think that every EDM song is good, or is it that they all count as one song?
I think there is a lot more variety and quality in EDM these days (even now with big room starting to become bland) then there has been in Rock music in the last 20 or so years.
Probably has a lot to do with the fact that Rock has been around since the 50's and full blown EDM is only 15-20 years old.
Again this is where the audience in question would tell the tale. I don't know anyone who listens to music even slightly seriously who doesn't think this, but if you asked 10 people on the street most would probably choose Jacko.

Rock ranges from Metallica to Coldplay and everything in-between. How can their not be variety between those? Whether you want to scream your head off, chill with a doobie, or cry like a girl, rock music has something for it.
Rock music as everyone here seems to like it has gone stale, and it's lost it's appeal to most people. There's a much wider audience for pop-rock and country-rock so that's the way the genre has gone. There's obviously a few exceptions, but for every Jack White there's 20 more popular Imagine Dragons. I'm saying this as a fan of rock music and for reference Jack White is one of my favorite artists. I also enjoy the Foo Fighters and think Dave Grohls pretty cool so there's that I guess
What's with the Imagine Dragons hate too, it seems to be close to Nickelback level. Don't they only have 1or 2 albums? I only know Radioactive I think and it's pretty good IMO. Overplayed but not a bad song. They weren't terrible at the Grey Cup either
Will probably get a lot of flack on this one. Really didn't like Nickelback at all for the past 10 years. Then went to their concert a few weeks back and found myself enjoying the concert. Go figure.
EDM isn't bad but I just find that a lot of it is just ripped off of every other EDM song. The same 3 chords a few up-lifters in the song and that's considered a new song. Not bad music, just not very innovative.
Well it's fine if you don't like it. I just think the classification is stupid. It's like saying "Guitar music" and it encompassing Country and Rock and Roll.

It's not really intended to be innovative. It's a mood creator.
