We didn't play well at all, especially in the first half. United deserved to win the game because they essentially beat us at our own game. The Gerrard red obviously didn't help but I don't think we were at the races that day.
Let's see what happens because United still have to play City, Chelsea and Arsenal. If they beat those teams, or even win a couple of them then they deserve the 4th spot quite frankly. For us, we have to beat Arsenal to stay in it because we have only Chelsea left to play after that from the other top teams. If we don't beat Arsenal we'll find ourselves 7 or 8 points behind after this weekend's games because United have Villa at home which is pretty much the easiest banker you are going to find in the country right now. 7 or 8 points is really difficult to overhaul, not impossible but extremely difficult at this stage of the season. A loss to Arsenal and we'd have to win every game from there on to even stand a chance. Our record at Arsenal away is quite abysmal the last few years, and without Skrtel and Sturridge it's going to be an almighty struggle to get anything there.

Final business got bought through compulsary order and Spurs can start building the new stadium this year
still have to play at MK Dons for the 2016/17 season, but new stadium should be ready for fall 2017
At which point they basically move up a level, and in an FFP world have similar spending power as Arsenal, with those two only behind United in England in matchday revenue, and the only other team in a real position to match would be Chelsea with a new stadium

How much of a level do you think they move up? The new stadium is only a small part of it.
They're increasing capacity by 50% with a match day revenue at the minute of 33M.
So say even if they double that they are still miles away from Arsenal, City, Chelsea and United on just match day revenue.
Also, they need to attract corporate sponsorship at a similar level and to do that they need to be in Europe regularly. No offence but United, Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool are much larger global brands which reflects sponsorship $
Tottenham are in a tricky catch 22 situation. They need to be in Europe to retain their stars and they need their stars to get them there. The Bale money has gone. What next?
Kane is going to be doing a Sterling soon if they don't get CL football.

the Bale money isn't gone either, they made 65m in profit last year mostly funded by the Bale money

Bagor is correct in regards to commercialization. Arsenal have been making a dedicated effort to grow their commercial revenue yet we are still leagues been United. Additionally, extra seats will add supply so you have to consider if it could potentially exceed demand when things aren't going so smoothly. Arsenal and United will still sell the extra ~15,000 seats when tickets go on general sale during poor patches of form, can Spurs do the same?
If these are proven to be non-factors, Spurs could very well be on their way.

fantastic goals by Arsenal. If United beat Villa, Liverpool is in deep trouble in terms of CL.

Well that pretty much seals the deal for Liverpool.
Also, I dont understand the ticket protest, isnt that like $110 for a ticket? Is that a lot?

That is the price for the cheapest tickets.
As for how things lie after the match itself, barring any major dips in form the only thing in question relating to the Top 4 is the order from 2nd to 4th.

its a different culture with tickets in Europe compared to here, the idea of the market setting the price is treated really negatively
same with the idea of a secondary market, spurs have a deal with stubhub and the fans protested it
some of it comes from culture, some from the fact that people actually have to pay it to see the team on tv for the most part

Game over, 2-1 Palace.
This weekend couldn't have gone any better for Arsenal and United. Everybody else choked.

he was shouting at the spurs fans "get in there' as walked off
any chance of CL is out now with 1 point in a Burnley/Villa 2 game run, so now best case scenario is to finish 7th and avoid the Europa league next year

Next year is probably a write-off anyways, having to play at MK and all.

I think what a lot of local fans hate is that it's priced the working class out of the game. With the influx of cash and how global some clubs are, it's detested that an out of towner can pay 200 quid for a seat from a legal tout, and the ones who've supported the club for generations can't get in. It disconnects the next generation of fans from the club because they can't experience what they're dad(most likely) has, and the atmosphere has just shriveled up because of it.
There's a real sense that the club belongs to the city/area and is not merely a franchise or a brand. Many recognize that to keep up with the neighbour concessions need to be made, but the heart is getting ripped out of some sides.

Jones and Smalling are not bad centre backs, but they need a world-class player next to them to be really effective against top clubs ... as a CB pair like today, they give me heart attacks. One Hummels, please.
