As for the second part, I'm not impressed with Treliving's signings/trades. Two inexperience GMs swayed by opinions of others, making a poor decision.

Gilmour took the Flames to arbitration and was given 750k instead of the million he wanted.
Reisbrough got fleeced by the recently former GM of the Flames at the time. Gilmour's value wasn't low at all.
I don't see any parallels at all really. Sure, Treliving has made some reclamation project moves that I'm not a fan of, but I really don't care about Baertschi. It's not like we got a pile of junk back like nearly every leafs/flames trade.

No. I think he was saying Baertschi simply isn't good enough to make the Calgary roster, but can probably make Vancouver's.

Umm no. Left wing is our strongest position, still. For Van it obviously is not.

A 22 year old kid is still not a well rounded player? Shocking.

We have Johnny on left side, Bouma a great 3rd liner, otherwise nobody with skill set to potentially be 2nd line winger.

Is Schremp, I mean Sven playing for Vancouver this weekend against Winnipeg and LA? It should be interesting seeing Schremp, I mean Sven, bringing his powerful offense to the NHL finally.

Who said it was shocking? It also isn't shocking that the organization was asking him to work on those other parts of his game.

It's bad karma to wish bad things happen to others, but I'm sue Burke/Treliving are praying for it.

I'm sure they won't give two seconds of thought about It. He's not their prospect anymore and they shouldn't be second guessing decisions already.

It's premature to assume Bouma can't be a 2nd line winger considering he's playing 2nd line wing pretty decently. He IS fourth on this team in goal scoring and has scored as many goals this season in the NHL as Sven has in the AHL + NHL with a decent amount of assists.
Either way we do have a lot of LW or lefty centers:
Poirier
Backlund
Colborne
Granlund
Wolf
Ferland
Klimchuk
Jankowski
Assuming that out of those talented guys not one has a 2nd line LW ceiling is very pessimistic. Hell, if Byron learns to finish in the NHL he'd be a Brad Marchand 2.0
It's safe to say we have way more concerns at RW.

It was a hyperbole statement. But no it's not at all, just certain posters are quick to announce that he'll forever be a bust, etc. At one point in his career Hudler also had entitlement/personality issues, and now? That's the last thing you'd ever say about him.

Are the hyperbole statements necessary to make your point. That's twice you've done it now. It doesn't make for a good debate as you are basically implying the position of those that disagree with you is more extreme than it is.
I think Sven can and will mature. What really brought this to a head though was he made it clear he wouldn't do that with the Flames. So the team had to maximize the value for the asset.
We know what players fetch in trade when they are waiver eligible - and it ain't a lot. So the Flames had to assess the chances of him making the team next year and the return they'd like get for him then - v. what they could get for him now. And they made a call based on that.
Makes sense to me.

I like Bouma but he doesn't strike me as 2nd line player.
Porier - RW, Backlund a valuable center, Colborne not good enough for 3rd line, Granlund perhaps but less skill, Wolf soon to be ex-Flame 4th liner, Ferland 3rd liner if we are lucky, Klimchuk perhaps 2/3 years from now, Jankowski a big center going the way of Colborne although there still is time for him.
All in all Granlund and Klimchuk, although both look like 3rd liners, neither has the skill level of Sven. Ohh well.

EDIT: Further edited his post.
It's just simply saying I disagree with their thinking, the net result is the same no matter how it's phrased.
I just think he's not mentally strong yet, when he's feeling good he plays great, when not? seems to sulk or mope. And no doubt in my mind he can overcome that and have a decent NHL career.
I never said it doesn't make sense, it does. But Sven also has the potential for this to bite us in the butt, time will tell.
