“@JSportsnet: Jet's Dustin Byfuglien's crosscheck on JT Miller is being given extra examination by NHL Player Safety.”

The best and most logical punishment for Buff is the rest of the regular season, 5 games.
That was sick and incredibly dangerous.

No suspensions are necessary regarding the Canucks - they have both LA and WPG coming up!

3 teams (Flames being 1 of them) fighting for 2 spots. I hope Vancouver beats them both.

1/2 isn't bad especially since if we had to pick we would prefer a Jets loss. There is also the added element of Vancouver once again show casing their ######baggary.

Wow @ the Byfuglien crosscheck, just saw it.
Not only a nasty crosscheck, but brings a ton of his own weight down on to Miller's neck in the process.
Clearly a vicious attempt to injure. That's gotta be AT LEAST the rest of the regular season, if not a playoff game or two.

Agree.
Probably 3 for Burrows, but it's Burrows so maybe more.

Not good for any player named Miller in tonight's games.
The way that Buff pulls his stick up to slam it extra hard into him is just disgusting to watch.
It looks odd to see Drew Miller waiting at the CVS Pharmacy with a massive gash on face. He gets his face stitched up then has to go get pain killers.

Buff's cross check could have ended a career, the fact he got 'lucky' should not be a factor in the suspension. Rest of the season and playoffs, just like Bertuzzi.

Are you counting his 2 biting incidences.
2 hair pulls.
And kneeing a guy in the balls?
Didn't think so.

Just watched the hilights. That Buf hit was disgusting, the league needs to start cracking down on this garbage that is endangering players lives/careers. Should be 10 games minimum.

Wow, that should be 3 games minimum, but probably worth 10. Vicious intent to injure. Very dangerous.

I feel the same way. Canucks should be in soon. I am hoping they are not mathematically in yet by the time they play LA and Winnipeg so they'll still play hard.

I very much want that, and from a non-biased Flames-fan perspective, a lengthy suspension for these plays would be good for the game. However I am skeptical it will be more than 2 games because: - Heat of the moment play. Not pre-meditated like Bertuzzi
- Context of the playoff push. We all know suspensions are shorter during playoffs, and Winnipeg is basically in playoff time right now in terms of urgency
- Movement prior to contact. I don't doubt that Buff intended ill will, but he will argue that the player was falling down/rolling as contact was made
- No injury
The fact that it was not pre-mediated and that there was movement prior to contact are good reasons to give a suspension shorter than if those were not true. How they apply in this context is arguable, but you can bet that if Buff gets a hearing, he will argue these. The other two (context of playoffs and injury) are BS.

It was JD Miller not Drew Miller. Drew, brother of Ryan plays for Detroit not the Rangers. Yep I was watching that game and that was vicious hit at first then Buff tries to jammed his stick on JD Miller's neck. Surprise he only got a 2 minute penalty on that.

Holy ...the NHL needs to throw the book at byfuglien. That could've been a disastrous neck injury. Ugly. No question his season should be over, at the very least.
