Shopped for a VCR and Krazy Kellys on Edmonton Trail before it was called Krazy Krazys, they also had cheap VHS tapes.

OEM Depot. It was called OEM Express when I lived in Ottawa in the early 2000s. They were the go-to place for parts back then.

Why am I writing about this? I myself only discovered this closure a week after the fact, though it didn't surprised me in the slightest. I ran that store, and the original store on Macleod Trail SW from summer 2003 until I was forced out in early 2007. In retrospect, it was probably more like escaped, but I'll get into that story a little later. But again why? Probably because upon seeing the carcass, it brought back a fair amount of memories, some admittedly pleasant, but eventually leading to simply pity and regret for a company and owner that lost its way (or maybe never found one to begin with), and wasted incredible potential and opportunity in so many ways.

OEM Depot was a separate one, this one was on the South side of 32nd Ave between Deerfoot and Barlow. I am sure it had Tech in the name

Ah - I had heard Asian gang rumors about OEM Depot as well.

It was definitely Techtronics. They would run flyers and ads in all the cheap papers every week. They disappeared overnight when the owners fled, filling up trucks with merchandise and personal property. Ask FlameOn. Techtronics was big around 2002-2004 when it closed up so it was in a era before OEM Depot.

That story about OEM Express rings true. I was fanatical about PC parts and upgrades in that period and yet I have never, ever heard of OEM Express/Depot. I didn't know they existed and shopped at MemEx and BCOM (after reading about deals on RFD).
