Believe it or not, long before Best Buy, long before Future Shop, Visions was the place for electronics in this city (well, not stereo equipment, that used to be handled by specialty stores).

FS and BB are a joke. You either get unmotivated teens or pushy creeps with too much hair gel and cologne.
Buy online.

And for the older guys here, before Visions it was all about a store called Krazy Krazy.
You haven't lived until you see VHS / Beta machines stacked 25 high in packed rows like tires at a Costco.

Their BD sales were legendary. Back when A&B, Soundsround and FS were still there, those where the hey days of showrooming for electronics. Just drive around town looking for stuff will take up most of a Saturday or Sunday.

What I miss is Compucentre, from a childhood of staring at DOS games playing on their PC clone screens.

Distributing? God, I loved shopping that catalog as a kid. First place I saved up and bought a transformer.

I know it's been talked about on here before, but all this old store talk brought it up in my mind again.

What was the computer store on 32nd that shut down 10-15 years ago? They cleared the store overnight and even took people's PCs that were in for repair. Rumor was they were a front for one of the Asian gangs in town.

Can't remember the name, but they had my monitor in the store when they cleared out. Never saw it again.

Hah, i remember this place in Sunridge. They had a SNES game challenge. My brother and I went to the store the day or 2 before, and asked what games they were using for the competition - they told us (completely forgot what they were), and we went to Toy Trader (before it went specifically into Video Games) and rented those games. We had drills to find out how to get the most points as quick as possible (the whole point of the challenge).
I got 1st, and my brother got 3rd- we got like $10 gift cards. Totally worth it.
EDIT: now that i think about it, it may of been called CompuSmart. Anyone remember?

Yeha, I completely forgot about that until Bmuzyka brought it up. It was a shady place to begin with. One of my good friends dealt with them a lot so I bought a monitor from there, I think he may have even worked there to be honest. I bought an old tube monitor from them and it stopped working, so I took it in to them. They had it and it was supposed to be a couple days to get it fixed or whatever, so I went back a couple days later and there was nothing in the store and no one around. Called the cops, filled out a police report thing and yeah, that was it.

My sister bought a PC from there based on an ad in the paper. We got it home, and its specs were not nearly what was advertised. Ad said it came with a 64 MB Video Card and 128 MB RAM, but it just had onboard video. When I phoned to complain, the manager told me video RAM is always shared with system RAM, so the advertisement was accurate. He wouldn't talk to me anymore when I told him I worked in IT at the time.

I was chuckling remembering an old computer store TV commercial the other day. I looked on YouTube but couldn't find it. I can't remember who it was for, but it may have been Doppler. They were making fun of other store's sleazy sales guys:
"Look at this thing!" *holds up mouse* "It's so big, it's not a mouse, it's a RAT!"
"And before you know it my friend, you are surfing the weeb!"
