Sven is a whiny baby. After he was drafted he was lifted on a pedestal as the Flames next franchise player by a lot of fans and it went to his head. Then he had to sit and watch Sean and Johnny pass him, also Jooris and Granlund getting more NHL ice time. While other guys would have used that as motivation to push harder. Sven just whined and wanted out. That kind of attitude is toxic and needs to be removed. I say good, glad he's gone. My guess is he won't make it to the NHL as a regular. Okay he had five goals five assists after just getting traded. Probably because of the excitement of a new chance. Once he hit his first adversary and struggles watch and see him fight it again. The coaches can only spend so much time pumping a players tires. Sven belongs in those colors now that he's shown they are his true colors.

Why won't this thread just go awaaaaay?!
Give it a bump in 3 years if Sven is tearing up the NATIONAL Hockey League, otherwise give it a rest!

Source please.
Listen, it didn't work out here. But do you really need to go on about him being a whiner?

I don't want to use strong language regarding his character, but pretty much since we drafted the guy, the way he talks always rubbed me the wrong way. "Entitlement" might be too strong, be he always sounded like someone that expected things to come easily and would then become easily discouraged when it wasn't easy. He is fragile and will never work in a merit based system. He is all about pedigree and being pumped up, and quite honestly, I hate that. He is pretty much the anti-Bennett.

Let's move on. We can call Sven Baertschi anything now for all I care. He's a Canuck, and they're just no good.

Isn't he a Comet?
I agree though, let us move on. I wish this thread would disappear from the front page.

Oh, and thanks for deflecting attention away from the abomination of a topic.
It wouldn't be the worst decision ever for the mods to end this misery. The guy isn't our prospect anymore & the discussion has been raging on for a month. Ugh...

I also am tired of the thread. But people who keep complaining realize they are bumping it as well, right? And are unlikely to convince the Svenatics that they shouldn't keep posting about their guy?

Yeah Hartley probably saw it the same way. Hartley seems to like players that go all in and Sven at times seemed to be holding back. It's not like he didn't have plenty of opportunities. For the most part I think Sven just didn't or wasn't willing to fit into what Hartley wanted from him. I can recall how Hartley talked about Johnny and Monahan how they had to play a certain way and then the results and the scoring would come. Sven on the other had would just withdraw and then the issue of confidence would come up. It could be that Sven wasn't willing to trust what Hartley was trying to show him so he could become a complete player that's hard to play against.

Let's get off the high horse a little shall we? You have no idea what 'it' is unless I tell you what 'it' is, which I've provided for you in my messages.

Not when that one word isn't representative of what people are saying. No I do not agree.

He had a lot of confidence no doubt. I actually liked his personality - he was very engaging and kind of a neat guy.
But similar to a lot of players the quality of his play seemed to be really centered on his confidence, and when it waned he couldn't get it back.
I don't view it as a character flaw though. But it is something that could hold him back if he doesn't figure it out. If he makes the NHL I could see him being a very streaky scorer - a guy that goes on a tear for a few weeks but then is invisible for a few.

I'm glad Baertschi is fitting in with the Comets.
This is one of those good deals were a guy not fitting in our system with some yet untapped potential gets another chance and we get to shuffle the deck again with another draft pick.
Sometimes the fit just isn't right. You hear it all the time, certain players just need a change of scenery to make it happen.
I'm still wishing the best for Baertschi, but am also happy he was traded as he was quickly becoming a problem situation with his waiver eligibility starting before he'd cemented a spot on the roster.
I do expect Baertschi to forge an NHL career, and I'm betting it starts with the Canucks. However, Canucks are going to hit the detonation button on that team in a couple of seasons and it'll be interesting to see if he survives that rebuild... he didn't quite survive ours.

Maybe a streaky goal scorer, but he's always have fine vision and skills as a playmaker that he can always fall back on. He wasn't Rene Borque where if he wasn't scoring goals he had nothing else to offer.
