I'm generally with you on that. But at Best Buy I find I have to cross the whole store just to find someone who's either tied up or just knows nothing. On balance I like my service to stand back, give me time, and as soon as enough time has passed to ask if they can help.

The Downtown Abbey approach to service.

That guy was a legend. I've purchased so much crap from him back when it was cool to drive a tricked out 12 year old Integra with 19 inch rims and a 1200 amp stereo that could be heard 3 kms away.

Good times.

Feroz works at Staples on Macleod Trail across from Chinook as of a few weeks back. Very helpful salesman.

Best Buy has made a real comeback in the US, I'm not surprised that is the brand that won out in Canada. They've built back a lot of brand equity. Their prices (online and in the store) and shipping now often beat out Amazon. Plus you get the pick up and store option and option of returning to the store. Slowly, they've won me back as a first or second place I'll look, when I thought they were headed down the same road as Circuit City.

Weird, I've always noticed the exact opposite and found it really strange to be getting better service and more knowledge from a non-commission sales guy. I have never found sales people outside of FS that knew as little about their products.

RIP, Futureshop. Some weekends going there not buying anything was the only aerobic exercise I got. One less flyer to expect this boxing day and shopping online just isn't as fun as going into the store.

Hopefully a lot of their staff migrate into BB locations and actually help when needed. The RD bb location is frustrating beyond belief

After that one closed they re-opened one right around there a few years later. I think it was open for a few months or a year and then it closed again |

OMG... I can't believe other people know him too... he stops by my work every once in a while and drives us all nuts!
Kind of funny to hear he is a local sales legend... ahah!

Just two I thought? The first one was attached to some Chinese restaurant with liquidation world around the corner.

As a fellow member of this crappy rat race I feel bad for all the people that lost their jobs. Guaranteed there were many of them living paycheck to paycheck that are devastated by this.
