Glad to come from behind twice and snag a point but we really needed 2. 5-3 should still get us in for sure. Go Islanders and Go Habs tomorrow.

Simply not true, 2 terrible penalties that were not even somewhat questionable, giveaways and isn't as strong on the puck as he has shown in the past.
Sure he went to the net on the game tying goal.... its what he is supposed to do and saying that goal was all him not even remotely true.
I want him to get back to early season form but I think he needs a couple games in the booth as so many other players have done.
|
1st penalty was a massive dive, and that 3rd goal is mostly him...I mean come on play the goalie is busy pushing him in the back and that is why he misses the puck

Random thoughts...Do the Flames only play teams on hot streaks? Who does Minn start on Friday with the Cal vs LA back to back? Will the OT ever go in our favour? Do people really believe Benn is not a diver?

We've just suddenly got a brutal schedule and anyone saying it's an easy schedule to close the season is kidding themselves.
Dallas has now won 9 of their last 11, Colorado was on a tear, Columbus was on a tear, Ottawa was on a tear, Blues were on a tear. Up next we've got Minnesota (on a tear), Nashville (have won two straight and are putting it together just in time for us), Dallas again (ugh I don't know how much more of the diving I can take, Ryan Kesler has officially passed on his legacy to Jamie Benn), oh, and then the blues again.
Oilers and Coyotes you say? Foolsgold games, the Kings get to play the Oil twice.
Oh, and then LA and Winnipeg, who are both now gonna be 100% healthy while we're still without our best player.
We're gonna make the playoffs, and we're gonna do it picking up gut-check points like we did tonight. Today was a big point even if LA has a game in hand. Hope Tavares dominates Kopitar tommorow and Leddy/Boychuk show their cup experience.

But they are hanging in there.

Yeah this goaltending duo is starting to remind me of Trevor Kidd and Rick Tabaracci. Very pedestrian.

They really did look like they were running on fumes. And this road trip starts with 3 games in 4 nights.
...but they always seem to do what they're not supposed to do.

Not sure why everyone is piling on Colborne. He's been solid if unspectacular. He finally lays a massive body check on someone and gets called for boarding. Fairly bad luck, IMO. He's in a massive slump offensively, as evidenced by his tense SO attempt, but he's played pretty well as a 3rd liner this season.
Why does Hartley have so much patience with a 6'5" centre who wins 52% of his faceoffs and uses his long reach and big frame to break up plays here and there? It's beyond me...

Engelland earned his contract by getting us that point.
Eff you Hemsky. 2 goals and a flop to draw a penalty? F'ing hate you more then ever. And wasn't Benn supposed to be injured? Screw him too. Really wish Wideman's shot in OT snuck in. 99% of the time that goes in. But of course the hockey gods ain't on our side tonight.
Looking forward (not) to the OOT tomorrow night where every single team we are battling against coming away with a win.

Sure missing Gio right about now. That being said playoffs or no playoffs this is a team of WARRIORS, and I am for the first time in a few years proud to be a Flames fan.
They have points in 6 of their last 8 games, not sure you can expect a whole lot more. I don't know if we are playoff bound, we are definitely playing good enough to deserve it. Again curse the Wild West, everyone is playing so well lately it is frustrating for sure.

I know it's the end of the season but maybe we're panicking. Tonight could have gone either way. Reffing was iffy but there were some favourable calls for both sides. So we're not a big shootout team, big deal. We shouldn't forget that Dallas were playing for their lives tonight -- if we win, they're mathematically out.
Re-load and win the next one.

Kings are winning on the road against the league's best and we're dropping points against non-playoff teams at home. Not good.
The weight of expectations is on us and we're playing nervous now that we have something to lose.
All part of the process for a young team.

Kings are a "non playoff team" right now
Dallas has won 9 of 11 games they are not a bad team

Wrong.
If the Flames go 8-0-0, including wins against Minnesota, Winnipeg, and LA, they will have 103 points. They mathematically cannot be caught even if all teams win their remaining games and will make the playoffs. This has nothing to do with how many points you or I think will be needed to make the playoffs. Flames still control their own fate based on math.

It is amazing they've been able to do what they've done with this duo. The natural assumption would be that for a team like this to stay in the chase, they must be getting unreal tending. Yet they are not.
Their two guys 38 and 45th in GAA and 45th and 47th in SVP.
That list includes all goalies - so some guys with very few games. But it tells the tale - which is the Flames are getting below average goal tending.
If you are looking for reasons why the Flames may not regress next year - if they get any kind of better goaltending that would be one. Ortio may be the guy to provide it.
This is also why I'm not anxious to hang on to both Ramo and Hillier.

I wish he was invisible...to me, he was visible in the most terrible way possible. Just about gave the game away with a weak turnover in his zone in OT.
