Should've put Hudler in the SO.

Splitting hairs but I thought they deserved better against Columbus. Carried the play in that game.

Nope, I have total faith the Jets are going to fall out fast.

What is it that gives Colborne such a long leash with Hartley? Other than his first 20 or so games, he has been a 4th, maybe on some nights 3rd line C yet he stills sees a ton of ice time, PP time, OT, Shootout.... He looks like he hasnt completely grown into his body and has potential but a guy like Granlund deserved all that extra ice time if it was to be had.

Dallas is a good team and the game could have gone either way...not sure why people are acting like they are the Oilers or something

It's the byproduct of playing too many minutes. It's affecting Brodie and Wideman as well as the transition game is suffering due to these guys being tired and mistakes are starting to happen in bunches. Can't even get upset at them though because they are doing their best and have held up better than anyone could have expected when Gio went down for the season. One has to wonder if Gio doesn't go down where the team is today.

I'm gonna start keeping my expectations low. I have a lot of faith in this group of course. But everyone around them has turned it up, we can only hope the Flames do the same.

As for the Flames they look like a tired club. Not very sharp and some undisciplined play. Lucky to get a point really. It's looking like they are running out of gas.
|
It's been weird getting burned by old, familiar faces. We need to look out for Jordan Leopold on Friday and Eric Nystrom on Sunday. Dallas again next week, then St Louis where we'll face *whelp* Bouwmeester, Butler and Olli Jokinen.
Thought they had tired legs in the 3rd period for sure. Wouldn't mind seeing Shore tag in as fresh legs next game. Ferland in for Raymond, who was particularly invisible tonight.
Good, unexpected contribution from Engelland. Beauty passing play for Gaudreau's goal. I enjoyed Colborne crushing Hemsky against the boards, even though it resulted in a PK situation. Other than that... well, I'm looking forward to the next game.

Pissed away an extra point tonight with their no-show in the first period. I agree, they're starting to look pretty gassed...especially the D core. I hope they can find a way to sneak in, but considering how well the other teams are playing, there's no margin for error anymore. We all know how tomorrow night's OOT is gonna go. Flames will likely have to go 6-2 or better to have a realistic shot at getting in. And I just don't see that happening with how they've been playing lately.
That being said, this team has a way of surprising me every time, so you never know. Regardless if they make it or not, it's amazing what this team has accomplished in year 2 of the rebuild. It's been such a fun season, and our future looks bright.

Statistically Colborne;s a good choice, but tonight he was an ice cold player and his shootout attempt reflected that. You could almost see it in his facial expression when they showed him up close on the replay as he got stopped, it was like "**** I knew that would happen tonight".

Glad to get the point. Not going to win them all, but if you are going to lose, drag a point out of it.
Funny enough, my gut feeling is that playing on the road against teams in a playoff position will be a good thing. We have been playing desperate or "loose" teams the entire home stand. Teams like Nashville will not be playing balls to the wall, and if anything, are likely playing a bit to not get injured or hurt prior to the playoffs.
Win two out of the next 4, Take 2 from Ari and Edm and then just need to beat one of LA or WPG....

He did set a good screen there, and there was one corner battle he won, either in the third or overtime, can't remember which exactly, where he used his size pretty well.
But god damn, I felt like every time I looked up I saw number 8 fumbling the puck, or being out of position, or losing a battle or something.
Kris Russel was also weak-sauce. Lost the puck a bunch of times.
Backlund was good, Monahan-Gaudreau-Hudler was good,I thought Raymond was okay, eve though he blew a couple of tires. Bouma made a really bonehead play on that 3-2 goal and Russel compounded the mistake.
I thought we did a good job of shutting down Seguin, I didn't really notice him at all until overtime.

Cardiac Kids Can't Complete Comeback 4-3 SO :(
And of course the NYI are playing like crap lately, 3-4-3 over the last 10 games. I really hope they can pull out a win tomorrow, for once can the OOT help us out, please hockey gods?

Tokarski isn't exactly Ben Scrivens though. He is a pretty solid goalie.

and your other post was the flames don't get a point if it wasnt for colborne.
Simply not true, 2 terrible penalties that were not even somewhat questionable, giveaways and isn't as strong on the puck as he has shown in the past.
Sure he went to the net on the game tying goal.... its what he is supposed to do and saying that goal was all him not even remotely true.
I want him to get back to early season form but I think he needs a couple games in the booth as so many other players have done.
