The other thing about missing calls is when you don't know if it's a valid call and you have reasons for picking it up.
For example, your kid(s) goes out with friends. Do you have both parents, the friend, all the other friends and parents, the venues being visted, and so on, all whitelisted in your phone?
Mine went to a camp. With all the leaders and volunteers, there was no possible way for me to have whitelisted every phone number. So for those 4 days I have to answer every call. And every one of them was Mariott, Westjet, or some other vacation. Then came 2 school field trips. Same result.
From what I understand, there are 2 places that identify the caller-id, one easily spoofed. Why can't the phone companies reconcile both, allow you to hit a button on your phone that will allow you to display the 2nd caller-id (unspoofable), or even display it in a fashion of 403-386-7821-01191123456, the latter part being the unspoofable/real phone number? That would immediately tell me whether to pick up or not.
