The 'Westjet' Scam Phone Calls
Got about 7 phone calls today... all from a 'Westjet' recording and all from 011 40 #'s (no idea what country this is)
Is there a way on iPhones to block wild card #'s or can you only block individual #'s?

Worst part is I get those calls from 011 area codes, but I also get the same ones from 403 area codes now too. Being a mortgage broker, I always answer as I just assume it's a client.
So annoying.

Yeah I got this too, but from a real person. A girl from "westjet" saying she got a call from "westjet" trying to scam her. As an employee she was offended. Told me this wasn't right and that a "West Jet" security officer will give me a call to sort things out. Suuuuuuuuuure. The number showed up as a 587. Damn scammers

I use Mr Number on Android. It is great. I'd bet they have it for Apple as well.

We get them at work 1-5 times a week. It's been like that for months.

I pretty much don't pick up mt phone if it's an unrecognized number. If it's important, they'll leave a message.

Hate these ones and I'm getting them like couple of times a week now. Bad thing is these calls spoof the first three digits of your phone number now so it always seems like a legit local number.

I always wait and press 1 to speak to the operator, then I let loose with the insults. Got in a good argument with a guy who sounded like he was in India, he was calling me all sorts of names.

Wait till someone misses the phone call from the local number then calls you back and it's your number.

On a lighter note, I think the number spoofing they do is kind of cool. When I get calls on my cell, the number is always very close to my actual cell #, and when I get call on my work phone, it's always very close to my work #.
Very clever.

This is how they got me, which is a damn shame, because now I will never trust another number that starts with the same 3 digits as mine.
Worse is at work, everyone has the same first 3 digits and then their extension is the next 4 digits. So I see a call at my desk, assume its a coworker, and get nailed every time.
On the upside I can only assume I'm racking up a tonne of these westjet points or whatever I keep winning.

I only know how to block individual phone #s using an iPhone and not sure if there's a way to block a large number of callers.
I got the Westjet recording last week. I picked up and was told I was a winner. The number seemed legit, 403 area code and very close to my phone number, so I hung up and called it back. Some lady answered and had no idea what I was talking about with the whole Westjet thing and she said she never called me, which I tend to believe as she seemed genuine.
So somehow they're masking the real phone number with numbers similar to yours in the hopes you pick up (which I did). Clever.

I'm assuming Mr. Number isn't available for iPhone.
Not to be that guy but my 3 second google search found Truecaller in iTunes.
Description
Have a missed call? Want to know who it is before you call back?
Over 100 million people use Truecaller to identify missed calls, search for people to get in touch with, block numbers they don’t want to receive, and keep their current contact’s information up-to-date.

Yeah....Westjet does absolutely ZERO marketing by phone. So there is no way they will ever call you unless you have something booked with them or some other interaction going on.

What exactly is the scam they're running anyway? Do they ask for a CC number at some point or something?
